does arsenal need more strikers?

Walcott is only the 5th choice striker (assuming Reyes doesn't return), he's more of a winger in my eyes. In fact I'd rather go with a 4-5-1 than start with him through the middle.

In recent years Wenger has been offloading a helluva lot of forwards (Henry, Lupoli, Stokes, Aliadiere, Reyes, Bergkamp, Wiltord, Quincy etc) so maybe he is aiming more towards a smaller squad for fewer players being loaned out. Or perhaps switching to the 4-5-1 as we have sometimes witnessed in Europe.

I don't think we *need* more strikers although with the ACoN coming up it might be prudent to look around in January should any injuries surface.

Theo will be used as a winger this season and for the next couple in my opinion.

I think one of the reasons Henry developed into a complete forward (maybe not heading the ball) was down to the fact he spent the early part of his career as a winger.

Out on the wing he developed his ability to run with the ball, awareness of play around him, when to release the ball, passing, confidence etc.

I can see Wenger wanting to do a similar thing with Theo personally until he is ready to play as a forward on a regular basis.

Yes, just like Van Persie as well. I reckon theo will need a few years but will be a very good player, you can see that a lot of the time he's a bit nervous and overawed but when he urns on the style the talent and pace is there. Eduardo is a goal poacher so he might get a bit sharper playing alongside him.

I would have liked a world class forward to partner RvP, not sure if the new boy is up to the task, we'll have to wait and see.

Adebayor is a decent enough player, who tries his best every game, but he's not and never will be a world beater.

Walcott is nowhere near ready for a forward role and as has been suggested before, I'd throw him on the wing now and then. It would be great if he could start contributing on a regular basis next season, as he's not exactly set the world alight so far, even taking his injuries into account.

So my opinion is, yes we do need a top drawer, established forward to take over from Tel, but I think Da Silva is Arsene's choice, so we'll have to wait and see.

As for our league position, considering we still have the players here that gave us the fourth position, plus we've added Da Silva, so I'd expect a fourth at least for next season.

I expect a good season from Da Silva, I've watched a few videos of him playing and he's a goalpoacher the likes of which we haven't had since Alan Smith, quite pacey as well but definitley a penalty area predator. Van persie, despite all his inuries had his best and most consistent season for us last year and he was probably knackered after the world cup so he could have a blinder next season as well.
