I have hjad diskeeper running on my pc for a few years now. Recently i have noticed quite a few images show no preview and come up as corrupt when you try and open them. Also a few of my disk images of games are not installing correctly and come up with a corrupt message when installing

Should I stop using diskeeper and run manual defrags instad of having automatic defragmentation on all the time?

it can be corrupt if it stops working while in the middle of a defrag. Also Perfectdisk professional is much better than diskeeper. My current hdd is almost full and my boot time is <35 secs

thanks. Temi - Ive downloaded a trial of perfect disk. Does it automatically run when i start windows? I see 3 services (PDAgent, PDAgentS1 and PDEngine) running does this mean auto defrag will be on all the time, even when i close the program from system tray? At the moment it says idle in the system tray but when you right click and exit, does it also stop background defrag?

The 3 services do stay open when its closed

1st thing you need to do is run the offline defrag (by ticking the 'boot time' box). it will run next time you reboot and defrag locked system files.
For the auto defrag, you need to set it to 'stealthpatrol' in the autopilot tab. I also recommend you run a smartplacement defrag after the offline defrag.
