Does everyone front happiness...

Yah everyone pretends to be super happy on the outside but im pretty sure we all have our doubts and fears stashed away on the inside. Just some people are worse at hiding them.

The people that are super 100% happy are mind numbingly idiotic most of the time tho :O

Read any of the previous posts where people complain about problems in their life... So far ive laughed at everyone - most seem so trivial on reflection.

Being 100% happy does not mean being one of those overly bubbly hyper types, who indecently are more likely to be putting up some sort of a front.

I think it's doable if you have close friends/family, as human being desire intimate connections with others, be it platonic or otherwise.

Having no-one in your life that is close to you, that you have 'those' sorts of conversations with, that can be a sounding board or offer a shoulder to cry on, can indeed be rather bleak.

Agreed to an extent. But it could be so much worse than that. Illness and homelessness are a couple of good examples.

Having a partner is a luxury, pure and simple.

Having a partner maybe but having friends or close relatives is generaly a given.

Well actually i say that are u a smug smary loves himself person too ?

Nope just old/ugly enough to realise that life doesn't owe me anything, that worrying about things makes absolutely no difference to the outcome and that friends and family are worth more than gold.

Having all the stuff you expect is just a result of what you are socially conditioned to want when you are a child/ younger adult.

If you dont slot into your gap, you are deemed a social failure

hehe ok :)

Yeah i forget that there is the odd older people on these forums - this is starting to sound like a teen angst thread

I'm fast approaching thirty, I grew out of my teens way before I hit twenty and I don't play bingo!

Oh give it a rest, people who claim this always strike me as smug and self righteous, anyone can be unhappy, just because someone is unhappy and just happens to be a teenager doesn't mean you can dust it away as "nothing but teen angst".

tbh you sound completely normal to me so dont worry.

Except the sleeping bit, thats messed up. I sleep like a log.

and the bingo, you should be at it like mad now as well since they lowered the tax rate on it, there's simply nothing stopping you now

And people that whine on how "unhappy" always strike me as needing to "get a grip", you're in control of your life, if your not happy about it then change it.

Or are they just going to be a "victim" for all their lives.

I wouldn't dream of implying that somebody who "thinks" as much as you do could possibly be included in the above, you're obviously just on a different plain to me, whether that's a good or bad thing I couldn't tell you.

I've had my fair share of love and loss in life, more than you're average late twenty something, perhaps that has a baring... well, of course it does.

Anyway, I have found this thread rather therapeutic, I like typing carp. :p

I also like to stand under a tree in complete solitude watching heavy rain fall - that's therapy.

I feel the same as OP most of the time, I think I just have too many thoughts about how trivial things are rushing around in my head at once, I often wake up all of a sudden with my heart pounding and flailing with the feeling as if I were falling and falling. I find it hard to get to sleep much of the time aswell, I find it very hard to empty my head and just rest.

Even so, in the interest of self preservation and the general atmosphere that surrounds you I find it important to act happy and try and give off an air of confidence. I would hate to think that my mood or inner feelings had brought about similar instances in my friends and family, so I keep them locked. I don't think I'll ever feel any different, and in some ways I don't want to, because I will have stopped thinking and reacting as I do and in a sense cease to be me. Behind whatever I do, there is a deep thought process, I have never just done anything, it is cross examined and picked apart by my brain before anything physical takes place. My grandad recognised this before he died, and told my mum to look after me because I was a deep thinker like himself. It doesn't mean I'm clever/intelligent/always correct but I have thought about my action, and probably a lot of other things beside it.

In my experience, you can't stop unhappy thoughts from crossing your mind but it is how you choose to deal with them and let them affect you that decides how you live your life.

Who is to say it's doom and gloom? Once you realise that you can start to live a little more easily, and if anything - if you just try to make life easier for those people around you, you will have a lot more success then if you tried to change the world.

I don't think it is very healthy to live with an attitude that everything is pointless, personally. If you spend too much time trying to observe some unobservable bigger picture, you will stop focussing on what should be important to you that sits right in front of your face.

I realise that you are trying to turn a negative into a positive, but I think you would be better off without the negative in the first place.
