Questions pretty much in the title and was just wondering what people thought.

I personally think he does as he is playing some of the best football of his career at the moment at Newcastle and is one of our most consistent players on the pitch. Only problem is I'm a Newcastle supporter and people might think I have a biased view towards this.

Yes I understand that he isn't the best behaved footballer in the world but to be honest, are any of out England stars? John Terry, Ashley Cole and Wayne Rooney have all had affairs, the story about Wayne over the summer wasn't exactly the best either about him ****ing in the bins (yes we all do it but we dont get caught ;) ) and all the other stuff that happened but we still pick and play them because their good at what they do.

So opinions people.... Should Barton get another chance in the England squad?

Have you seen the state of out team at the moment though, We need new people to play and the form he is on along with the likes of Andy Carroll for us they can provide them.

If only Gareth Bale was English :(

If Joey Barton is the type of player that England want to play then that says a lot for the state of their team atm.

This.

I don't think he's a very good player, I certainly don't think he's International quality, and I certainly don't think he's the type of person you want representing your country.

Thought this might be the type of reaction I would have gotten to be honest but the form he has been is this season has to be looked at compared to lampard and gerrard who are both "world class" yet they have both struggled this season a long with their teams aswell yet they are constantly picked for selection.

His history is terrible for violence i'll admit that but apart from the Pedersen incident this season and if you want to say the torres as well he hasn't reacted badly. Rooney comes out and slates his team, manager and demands a transfer and the boom signs a new contract and all is forgotten

Lampard and Gerrard are much better then Barton. Lampard has been injured most of the season and Gerrard while off form, is still better in my opinion.

Lampard's played like 3 games, in his last game he scored 2, and got I think, 2 assists, against a team playing badly but still. Lampard has been the single most consistant performer in the past 7 years in England.

Gerrard's poo, should be in jail but for friends who went to jail for him, dives, and is shows no discipline in his role.

Barton on form, isn't particularly good, most of this assists/goal creating is from freekick delivery, where he's not bad. We've tried to build a team, for about 6 cups, based on everyone diving to take advantage of freekicks before, it doesn't work. You build a team that can win a game on open play, in any game, against anyone and freekicks are a bonus. England built a crap team that focused exclusively on getting freekicks, and couldn't beat anyone remotely decent.

Barton as a tackler, is irratic, he's volatile, he's prone to doing utterly daft things where a red card will cost you, league sections of internationals are easy, you won't ever be up against more than one other decent team, knockouts, a red card can kill you.

Anyway, personally I don't want Barton to be involved, he is a bad role model, and while footballers shouldn't be required to be role models, and in general parents should teach their kids better than to look up to rich people, parents don't teach their kids better, they are role models and he's a joke of one.

He's had many many chances, and continually does stupid things. The punch of Pederson was pretty bad, not much more than assault frankly and should have received a longer ban than he did have.

England wouldn't be improved with him, or without him, so in that sense I couldn't give a monkeys, we have the wrong manager, completely wrong team choice, tactics and style, we won't win anything with or without Barton so why put him in?

To give others a chance to see if we use different players if we can build teams around different players.

Just for the record I didnt mean to sound like I was saying that Barton is better than Lampard/Gerrard but is playing better form at the moment and yes lampard has been injured but England have a friendly coming up soon, pointless playing him if hes not fully fit or back to normal form. Yes Barton isn't the perfect role model but I return to my original post of players cheating on their wives.

They arent exactly perfect role models doing that yet they seem to be forgiven because they play for big teams

Say as much as you want about his record etc., but that's never stopped scumbags/idiots from representing our national side before. I don't really see it as an issue or any changes taking place unless for some reason the media kick up enough of a fuss.

For example, footballers have cheated on their wives before and after John Terry, yet only when enough of a storm was made was he dropped. Does it really matter? No. Does it matter to Terry or Chelsea? No.

Our domestic players earn so much that representing their country is nothing more than a chore. Useful for younger players to raise their stock, an inconvenience to older players and their strange week long injuries. ;)

I suppose it depends how you view these things but Joey Barton's offences have been crimes of violence rather than of dubious morality. Is the physical action of inflicting injury on someone worse or more inexcusable than the more usual mental pain caused by infidelity?

I mentioned in a thread a while back about an interview I'd seen with Joey Barton where he came across as a fairly intelligent individual taking responsibility for what he had done while not offering excuses about his actions to try to deflect the blame - whether that's a learned response or whether it is truly his belief now it is somewhat heartening to see. I'm not totally sure if he deserves another shot for England but realistically you should have a good half dozen midfielders who are better than him at least, they may not be playing as well currently though.

John Terry, Ashley Cole and Wayne Rooney are all much better footballers than Joey Barton.

qed.

no chance, he's not good enough and even if he was his behaviour over the years should exclude him,the only person in football scummier than Diouf
