Does something need to be done about dogs?

Thank you for the reply. Don’t worry I am ignoring the comments. Ultimately he’s our dog and he hasn’t caused any injury outside of our circle within the house therefore at the minute I’m willing to invest in him to improve his behaviour.

I didn’t post the comment for sympathy or reaction, more just to say I now fully understand people’s fears and reluctance around Bull breed dogs. They are naturally very loving, if not a liability somewhat from my experience.

I do appreciate everyone’s outlook (even those who’s are against). Everyone’s entitled to an opinion. However, no matter who you are, until you are in the situation, with a animal that is part of the family it’s not as easy and black and white as just making the most drastic decision.

That reply was very helpful, and good to have a useful, external outlook.

I genuinely don't know what I'd do in that situation. I don't think you can know until it happens. And there are so many variables. (like having kids or not). Don't envy the choices you have to make. Just hope you can manage it, get past it and there's a happy ending.

I wonder if it would be useful to assess the political leanings of aggressive dogs? ;)

"President Joe Biden’s pet dog, Commander, has been terrorising bodyguards at the White House and in Delaware, according to US Secret Service email correspondence.
Commander was heralded as a more laid-back version of predecessor Major, who was banished from the White House two years ago on biting charges.
Yet the new Pooch of the United States is said to be in the doghouse, having lunged at unsuspecting agents at least ten times in just five months culminating in an agent being hospitalised.

Details of two-year-old Commander’s misdemeanours were obtained in a public information request lodged by Judicial Watch, a conservative activist group specialising in alleged misconduct by government officials.

According to the group, Jill and Joe Biden have adopted a laissez faire approach to training Commander, which has infuriated the frequently targeted Secret Service agents.
The report stated that on November 3 last year, Commander hospitalised a uniformed Secret Service agent by latching onto their arm and thigh.
The officer told superiors that he had tried in vain to shield himself using a steel cart but his injuries had left him “in a considerable amount of pain.”
Another significant episode occurred weeks later, when Biden took Commander on a wander through the White House’s Kennedy garden following a family movie night.
Commander was released from his leash by the President and bolted towards a Secret Service member, biting them on the arm and hand.
A month later, Commander bit a security technician on the back at Biden’s home in Wilmington, Delaware.

The request only provided incidents occurring between September 2022 and January 2023, with Commander’s behaviour in his first nine months at the White House and most recent six months excluded.
Email communications between concerned Secret Service agents and their superiors reveal growing resentment towards the Bidens’ pet.

Hearing about the November 2022 attack, a superior is said to have messaged: “That’s freaking crazy, that stupid dog.”
The victim explained: “My leg and arm still hurts. He bit me twice and ran at me twice.”
The superior is said to have responded: “What a joke. If it wasn’t [the Bidens’] dog he would already have been put down. Freaking clown needs a muzzle.”

Another officer wrote: “Commander has been exhibiting extremely aggressive behaviour.”
They predicted: “Today, while posted, he came charging at me. The First Lady couldn’t regain control of Commander and he continued to circle me. I believe it’s only a matter of time before an agent/officer is attacked or bit.”

This prediction was sent days before the agent was hospitalised.

Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton said: “This is a special sort of craziness and corruption where a president would allow his dog to repeatedly attack and bite Secret Service and White House personnel.”

The White House responded by confirming that the Bidens would provide more training and more rigorous control techniques for Commander.
Elizabeth Alexander, communications director for the first lady, told CNN: “They have been partnering with the Secret Service and executive residence staff on additional leashing protocols and training, as well as establishing designated areas for Commander to run and exercise.
“The president and first lady are incredibly grateful to the Secret Service and executive residence staff for all they do to keep them, their family and the country safe.” "

I have to wonder if someone sedated the President instead of the dog, by mistake?

Must have a fairly traumatic history the poor doggy. This is a sweet reminder that they are not all bad.

A Pitbull Bully went for my Springer Spaniel on our walk this morning. Came at some pace with it's teeth showing going for my dog. My dog was yelping in pain and cowering away from it. The owner grabbed his dog and swore at it. My dog is female and had shown no signs of aggression. I couldn't initially find any damage on my dog but after getting it how it has a cut on it's leg from the bite. I felt completely helpless as it was happening as it looked so menacing. And I'm still a bit in shock right now.

I don't think I'll walk down that snicket again, which is a bit sad because it's one of my main dog walks.

That's awful and must have been so scary and alarming!

They are trained to attack humans.

Occasionally, one will get excited and turn.

I remember my dad (former cop) saying handlers quite often got bitten by their own dogs, but not seriously hurt.

They're also trained to release, not cause too much harm and not to attack their handlers.

If some people understood context of the situation, it would change a lot of this, but unfortunately people do not and instead just want to hide behind their posts, links and awful takes.

Interesting that the Balkans is having an issue with dogs and them becoming feral and potentially mating with wolves

That's pretty sad, really nice looking dogs. During Covid some of them would have sold for 3-4k, especially that Springer Spaniel.

I think the chances of them mating with wolves and surviving is unlikely. In Wolf Packs the alpha female prevents the Beta female from mating with the male Wolves.

Dogs turning to knife crime now

It was the canine critique of her ******* abysmal acting... and it clearly worked, as she got right up and was fine.
I'm more worried about why someone would leave sharp knives where her pets could so easily reach them.
