Motion for ceasefire.
Some adult owners of dogs have no sense.
I had a friend had a cross between a great dane and a south african ridgeback dog.
It was massive, and with the reputation of the ridgeback (for fighting lions) it was nervous to be in the same room. A couple of mutual friends refused to go in his house.
He had a young daughter. If that dog had turned he wouldn't have been able to control it, or defend against it.

Lots of morons that think big dog= them being hard. It’s the same in the us with guns.
Should be a limit on guard and fighting breeds. Treat them in the same concept as a firearms license.

If people are similarly abusing dogs, then I agree, but apparently it's the dog's fault for reacting, so.....
No, I live in a cushioned world where scum "have" to be educated, because simply disposing of them is not an option, for some reason...
And this is why they perpetuate their transgressions.
I presume the Police weren't present at the actual time of the incident, and that the dog would have ended up at its home by the time they showed up, in which case they would need either a warrant or owner's consent.

Frankly anything and anyone who commits extreme violence and murder upon a human deserves extinction in my view.
waited an awful long time to bring this view out.
Dont know if I want to jump down this route, as this clearly goes back to believing in removing people based on characteristics rather than criminal activity.

But if it's a known likelihood when predictable and preventable circumstances are permitted, it's the fault of whoever permits them, not the creature involved.
Always been my view.
But why not jump down this route? We're doing it with dogs based on their characteristics, so why not humans too?

Horror story and not for the first time. The darling dog that is well behaved, soft as a teddy bear attacks a defenceless unsupervised child in the same family.

My neighbour has one in an apartment block.
only seem him taking it for a walk once, heard him yelling at it for peeing inside before. (Never heard the dog sound like it got physical)
Had one chase me a long a bike path before whilst the owner was yelling at it to return :/
It was faster than me but didn't know what to do once it got alongside me, huge MTB with massive wheels etc, any smaller bike and I reckon it would have had a go

I can't see the politicians ever doing anything about it, but we really do need stricter rules. Personally, I think all dogs above a certain weight should be muzzled when they are outside. Simple and safe.

What weight would that be, though?
This pocket bully above, ie the kind that isn't banned, would have weighed about 18kg - That's less than a small labrador and even some border collies. Moreover, it wasn't out in public or anything, it was in its own home, running free around an unsupervised six-year-old.
Just muzzle all dogs in public and they must be on a lead at all times in public spaces.

Should bring back licencing and have all dogs muzzled when in public tbh. Even a bite from a small one can get infected and become serious.
As well as a DNA database, so people not cleaning up after them can be traced and fined (as has been done already in some countries).

Having been bitten by a small dog a few years ago (skin punctured and blood drawn), and having to go to hospital for a tetanus jab, I agree with the sentiment that all dogs should be muzzled in public.
I'd vote against anyone who brought this in.
I'd even vote tory if all other parties did.
Not sure on how many people own dogs but it could well be an election loser.

Conviction for idiocy- attack was an 8 year old boy, back in february:
Bootle mother and son jailed over XL bully attack on boy
The dog caused the boy "catastrophic and life changing injuries", a court is told.
