Does something need to be done about dogs?

How about then, we just ban dogs from public spaces, if you want a dog, buy a garden, then there would be no dog violence, no poo on the pavements, and none of those retarded owners who think hanging bags of poo in trees is somehow a good thing to do
Tarring everyone with that same brush again.

You went from making a good point to starting a dumpster fire. Well played.

tbh you have made you opinion clear before that you don't really like dogs(which is fine, we don't all like the same things) so I don't think anyone will convince you of any positives.

You will still have retarded owners though, actually I think some of the retarded owners seem to have dogs that maul their own children to death in their own garden.

We banned certain knives and guns, not all of them.
The vast majority of guns are banned, because a minority misused them

The same with knives that don't serve a purpose as a tool, because a minority misuse them

Why should dog ownership be treated any differently ?

I used to not like dogs but I realised it was irrational they are innocent in all of this and don't know any better, they're just doing as nature designed

It's the owners I hate, or at least, the irresponsible ones who created the problems around dogs

I like cats but if there was a problem with cats I would totally be in favour of bringing in measures to prevent those problems

Fair enough, I love cats and if you see them together with dogs in a home its a weird and wonderful dynamic and pretty fun. With regards to serving a purpose there are numerous roles that dogs provide, but its like anything the minority ruin it for everyone else.

Obviously guide dogs & sheep dogs are an exception, but they're probably going to be phased out in the future for AI robots, certainly an AI robot carer would be vastly more valuable than a dog

I don't think dogs should be banned, but a license for a dog like this would make sense. It should be educational and ensure the owner knows how to safely manage the dog, keeping it muzzled in public, keeping it away from children and other animals, training it, etc.
The question to be asked why would you want such a dog, your post kind of proves the point it should be banned as there is still people who would be daft enough to want to own one.
