Hi,

I've been looking around for a 3.5" Sata II 1.5 TB 7200RPM 64MB cache HDD and no luck do any exist?

not a 5.25incher no. you could if you that way inclined, get a normal HD, and then use an adaptor to fit it into the 5inch space..

Hard drives generally nowadays come in 3.5" form mate.

Appears not. Western Digitals have the only 1.5TB hard drive with 64mb buffer but thats a 5400rpm disk.

Any reason in particular you want the larger buffer size?

Just assumed it would make things a lot more smoother as I tend to run windows which makes a lot of little writes to disk very often. Could you suggest a 1TB HDD with those specs

It seems that WD again have the only 64MB buffer, on their 1TB 5400rpm disc.

I would however highly recommend the Samsung 1TB F3, many benchmarks rate it as the quickest around.

The cache size doesn't matter. Seagate do a 1.5TB 7200rpm disk but it doesn't have 500GB platters and it's a Seagate so performance isn't great. Grab an F3 or win the lottery and get a 2TB WD Black.
