I like my web, balls deep.
so how come it seems only people involved with illegal activity actually knows how to operate all this? How did they learn about it?
Any VPN is considered deep net?
I don't really see the point in the term to be honest, having a closed network goes against the very nature of the internet anyway.
The internet was designed to be 100% anonnymous and fed by user input, a free utopian society if you will.
The problem is that a lot of people use Hidden Wiki as their gateway into the deep web - but most people are too scared to then follow the links presented there. A lot of it is illegal material/discussions - and links to communities. I wouldn't be surprised if Hidden Wiki itself was somehow controlled by the authorities and decoyed to deter people from venturing further and getting so they get the feeling that they've filled their deep web fix. After all, it shouldn't be as easy as running Tor and pasting in the URL.
A lot of the really interesting stuff is most likely on Usenet anyway.
I just read through some of the pages on that BB link someone posted...
.
I fired up tor and got to the wiki but didn't dare do anything other than read a few chapters. Very dodgy links on there.

I've just read the BB thread and I really want to investigate the wiki but probably not wise. The idea of there being forums that discuss child kidnapping and stuff like that is so bloody weird it's fascinating.
So am I, however I save all mine in a folder called 'horse porn' just to deter people from venturing in there... ;Pfrankly, i'm happy enough with my regular porn![]()
