one of my son's drives, namely his 1TB game drive is not showing up in this pc, it shows in device manger, but not disk manager.Does this mean the SSD is dead?

You could try installing crystal disk or whatever, see if that recognises it and what it says about the drive health ?

That would be my first suggestion.

Does the drive show in BIOS?

Windows 11 on an NVMe with a Phison controller?
If that is the case, then power down the PC fully (unplug it from the wall is the PSU doesn't have a power switch) and then turn it back on and it should show back up.

If it does, then get an SSD that doesn't use a Phison controller and clone the data over as it is currently the only way to "fix" the issue.
