Does this sound right? (3DMark06 Question)

Its to low, i had the BFG OC1 320mb GTS with all my rig stock, and i got about 9-9.5k (i think), did you have everything in the drivers set to performance, and no AA/AF.

Hope you don't mind me using your thread as i have a similar concern, im getting a score of around 7770 but on a yet to be overclocked E2160 at 1.8ghz, 2gb 6400 ocz ram and 8800gt, settings are set to app as well, doesn't look right to me but im not sure as its a new build and if its just due to the cpu not being being overclocked yet?

with an e2160 at 3ghz ad a mildly clocked gts 320, my mate gets 10.3k, so i would suggest that your's is a bit low. Try closing down all the open app before running 3dmark, check that the cpu is at full speed/not too hot (ie throttling)

Also check the speed of the pci-e lane, it could be running at 1x instead of it's full 16x speed

Some CPU-Z Information

Something looks corrupt there.

3dmark score is usually SM 2.0 score + SM 3.0 score + 50% of CPU score.

SM 2.0 and SM 3.0 = 7261 making your CPU score element 153 x 2 = 306

A core 2 should be getting > 2000

I suggest either 3dmark is corrupt - reinstall or you've not installed one of the system level drivers fully ... eg mainboard drivers

Your cpu multiplyer/bus/fsb/speed is down, in your bios do you have any speed step or cool n quiet things enabled? (i think thats why they are called)
As they slow down your pc to reduce heat for general home pc use for people who dont need full grunt for games all the time.

If so disable them, then tidy up the bios and re-run the test, allso if you dont have the latest 3dmark, id suggest downloading the newest :)

I have a similar setup and I get 12k. My mate is havingt the same problem and he is only getting 5k lol

I was converting and burning data to disk when I run my 3dmark06 and still got 10k+

So I would say something is wrong

Ah i see the problem... You are running Toast in the background...

:D

Hmm I'll take a look in the BIOS for anything suspecious... it's definatly the latest 3DMark version.

sorry to seem obvious and maybe I am missing something, but looking at your CPUz screenshots, I can see your processor is running at 1.6GHz and the Multi lowered to x6.

Turn of EIST and/or Speedstep in the BIOS as IceShock has pointed out, think thats what they're called.

Krib.

What should the multi bit be? I checked the BIOS and only thing I saw out of place was that the multi part was at 6 - maximum available is 9 - isnt that what it should be?

Okay I just changed it to 9 in the BIOS and nothing has happened in CPU-Z =\ Still shows 6... anyway else I can change it?

CPU-Z will be reporting it wrong, i turned off all the EIST stuff in the BIOS, and it still showed mine running at 1600mhz or something in there. :)

put some load on the cpu with cpu-z open, it'll soon jump up to 9x multiplier, it's a power saving feature of the cpu, called 'speedstep' this shouldn't cause any issues in 3dmark as it should instantly jump to 2.4ghz for you...

Anyway, to disable this, there will be some options in the bios called 'speedstep' 'EIST' or 'C1E' or something along those lines, go turn them off if you with to have 2.4ghz all the time.
