Dog has a bite, owner watches

Obviously not because the dogs attacked people despite their owners stating that they were docile and wouldn't hurt a fly.

Im not sure you understand what im saying, im talking from personal experience, the staffs i have encountered have always been of a nice temprament (sp?)

I understand perfectly. I'm saying that dogs of a perfect temperament can and do sometimes end up attacking innocent people, it has happened many times.

Because you said

I have a staff and he is awesome wouldn't hurt anyone most dosile dog i know, same goes for my sisters staff, he is just a lunatic but wouldnt hurt anyone!

which kind of implies that it was impossible that either of those dogs could attack an innocent person. If you do realise it's possible then we do indeed agree :)

Just to clarify then are you against people owning dogs(particularly around small children I guess) because they may attack? I'm not about to dispute that dogs can attack even when they have been perfectly behaved before. However as I've said the problem is more to do with the owners in most cases rather than the dogs, the owners are either not supervising the dog or the child well enough.

On the news last night they had a report showing CCTV footage from Huddersfield of a youth with a *bull terrier* (looked like a staffie rather than an EBT) who walked up to a cat sitting on a fence, lifted it down and threw it to his dog, which promptly killed it. A nineteen year old has been arrested and released on bail pending enquiries.

While the dogs have owners like this - what chance do they have? Poor Kitty :(

Why DO dogs and cats hate(possibly too strong a word) each other?

Mine live quite happily together. It depends on many things, breeding, training being the two main ones that spring to mind. My cats dislike my dog because she scoffs all their food and they are always swiping at her nose, but there are no claws out. It's all in play and they snuggle up together on the sofa. Apart from one, but she hates everyone/thing :D

Don't know if its already been posted in this thread but I came upon an appropriate quote:

"I loathe people who keep dogs. They are cowards who haven't got the guts to bite people themselves." --August Strindberg

Thanks Wikipedia :D

Lol. I have no desire to bite anyone. And my doglet would merely lick someone to death, she's soft as custard. :D

Concerning the person in the OP's link - certainly rings true there!
