Doing a RAID?

RAID 0 if you want them to go faster. Keep in myind that if any of the disks fail all the information will be lost while using RAID0.

For a somewhat safer configuration (but not as fast as RAID0) you can use RAID 1

With raid 0, it will equal to 1tb right?

Will I need drivers for it during the OS install, I have a m4a87td/USB3 mobo, or will I be able to do it without the drivers?

RAID0 = 2x500GB = 1TB.

Whether or not you need drivers depends on your chipset and the version of Windows being used.

If it's an Intel chipset then chances are Windows will have a suitable driver on the installation disc but these will need updating after you've finished the installation.

hmm, its an AMD chipset i believe, the 870 chipset.
The mobo manufacturers site does list the ahci/raid drivers in the downloads section.
Would slipstreaming the drivers on an installation disc be a good idea?

I will be installing windows 7 ultimate if that helps.

The easiest way to find out is to set up the RAID and then try installing Windows.

If there's no driver on the disc Windows will tell you.

If this happens then start again and when you install Windows 7 it gives you the option to install drivers from, say, a USB memory stick. You can install the driver at this point.
