Does anyone use them still? Do you feel the quality has dropped recently?

My partner and I were fond of the Sizzler pizza so we ordered one the other night. What arrived didn't bear much resemblance to the advertised product. It was missing several toppings including the tomato base. It was basically cheese on toast. When I phoned to complain, they said no problem, all nice and friendly, they would send us another and pick this one up. Great I thought, slightly inconvenient but at least they are sorting it. A few minutes later, I get a call from them, this time sounding like they don't believe me, they want me to take photo, send this to some email address then they would decide. I told them to forget it and I would go hungry.

Fast forward a week and I feel I will give the Brighton branch a go, I ordered three sides for my greedy self. I walk to collect it and when I get there, the guy behind the counter take my money and goes to get my order. He opens a few boxes an looks inside then finds mine and sticks his finger in it! I said "You just stuck your dirty finger in my food" he said his hands were clean but I just handed him a tenner and he was just serving two other people so his hands would be far from clean. I ended up taking it (I know I should have refused but I was hungry) and I didn't eat it when I got back as I put myself off it as I was walking.

Since when did they introduce the finger test for heat? That was definitely my last visit to them.

Domino's in not-haute-cuisine shocker..

Seriously, if somebody had stuck his finger in my food I'd be demanding another one. No question.

NB: Fully aware in top-end restaurants it is fairly common for chefs to be prodding food etc. but I have way more faith in their hygiene than some numpty in Domino's...

Isn't the golden rule with takeaways not to complain about your food until you've got the food in your hand (not theirs!), the risk being next time his finger will be somewhere else before it goes in your pizza.

2 "major" complaints and you didn't say boo to the goose ? Was it such a big hassle to take a picture and send an email ? Or take your finger complaint further ?

The franchise I work for would have sacked them for that. We have over 50 stores and corporate is always checking up on us so we can't take that chance.

You reach someone a tenner, they stick their snotty finger in your food and you just let it go? Then come on to a computer forum and moan? Good god man grow a set! :p

Absolutely! Not to mention in the high end restaurant the chef isn't handling money which is inherently dirty but just handling food and regularly washing their hands.

I can't stand it when people can't handle food properly, similar thing with food vans sometimes, some of them do it properly, one person taking orders/handling money one or two others cooking/assembling the orders and handing them over... other times you hand over money then cringe a bit as the guy directly handles your food with their grubby hands... you might as well have say placed the burger/kebab on a public toilet seat - it would still be cleaner than being handled by someone handling money all day

I once worked for Cable & Wireless many years ago and they hired someone to prepare sandwiches etc in the canteen. One day he came in with a giant plaster on his chin. When I asked him what had happened, he said he had impetigo. He had been making food and serving all day. Not after I found that out he wasn't!

I install and service commercial catering equipment- trust me, him sticking his finger in it is the least of your worries. I wouldn't let a dog eat the food from some of the places I've been, and we're talking massive national chains not independent takeaways.

Wow, GD has threads about bad pizza.....

Maybe this should be in the Food forum, some of them folks can cook over there, maybe you'll get better responses too.

You have probably eaten thousands of meals where you've had worse than a persons finger dipped into your food.
Also if that was a problem just eat around the finger hole

ps Dominos pizzas are vile and expensive anyway.
