Donating for a New Mac Pro

To be honest, fair play to the bloke. He hasn't done anything wrong - in fact he has used his noggin to think of a new way to crowd fund, quite clever really. If people want to give him their money, let them.

It's not like he forced anyone to give him money.

Shame on the people who donated in my opinion as opposed to the guy who's just got a free macbook!

As you may have heard, the YouTuber, David Di Franco had successfully raised money in order to buy a new Mac Pro.

Am I the only one who thinks this is absolutely disgusting? Does he need the money, no. Does he need the computer, no. Talk about first world problems. This person is an absolutely disgusting individual and he doesn't deserve any of the following he has.

Thoughts?

I want to know why you think this person nobody has heard of is a disgusting individual?
What exactly has he done wrong?

Hey guys, winky_the_winking_turtle here, these OCUK forums are awesome, but you wanna know what's more awesome? Buying some new fresh PC kit from OCUK of course, so uh, if you want want to course, send me some money so I can buy some new parts :-) Ok, thanks guys!

Sorry. Can't. Donating my money to starving whale frogs in the Amazonian rainforest who are losing their habitat because of GCHQ logging.

Youtubers usually get loads of free gear anyway through sponsors, advertising, reviewing. Like cameras, laptops, tablets, go pros, trips across the world and now people donating to them.

Its a hard life.

I always wondered how big time vloggers never seem to have real jobs, yet they survive. Some of them with amazing lives

Because vlogging is their job. They can rake in hundreds of thousands of dollars a year doing it depending on their subscription base and views per video.

People aren't paying for him to have a new computer. They're paying for the advertising/promotion he's offering in his upcoming videos to around 100k subscribers..

I know, but then saying that I have seen vloggers go from loads of views, to hardly any and a massive drop in subscribers. And stayed like that for years, yet they kept vloggig on a daily basis throughout the day. Just wondering what the threshold is for amount of views / subscribers until you start seeing big bucks come in. Enough to live on tidy

But some peoples stats are crazy, one vlogging pair I follow get around 457,000 views within 23 hours of posting the video and 3mil subscribers

There are of course people who do much more

I think the OP just wants a Mac Pro and is a bit jealous that someone duped a load of people into donating.

Wouldn't mind people donating money so I could buy a £2500 Mac Pro. Couldn't imagine spending that amount of my own money on a PC that doesn't have any PCIe slots, spare drive bays or even a copy of Windows. At least the last one is a fairly easy upgrade.

Oh yeah that's right it's cool to hate macs now

Fair play to the guy, no different than people donating to streamers etc.
