DOOM 4 ANNOUNCED YAY

Frankly shoulda been out ages ago ;)

And I do hope there engine is greatly optimised and built around multiple cpus and mulitple gpus and scales well to new tech, cos when Doom 3 was coming out it was like on the verge of major technology breakthrus which the engine wasnt quite designed or built around sorta bad timing almost.
 
Was always going to happen, that said I loved Doom 3 so really looking forward to this.
 
With some luck id have learned from their last 2 turds that their bog standard archaic multiplayer component just doesn't cut it anymore and they need to do something new.

So much for Todd Hollenshead saying a couple of years back that doom 3 was the final game in the doom saga.

Will probably look forward to it but after doom 3 its clear to me "id" really need to pull a rabbit out of the hat and stop relying on hyping their engines for once.
 
Excellent, although they'll have to go some to top Doom 3. Really superb game. Everyone complaining about getting scared really needs to grow a pair. :p

I have faith in id though. :D

Indeed, that's what ruined doom for me. It was scary for about an hour then it was just predictable. "Oh look some ammo, followed coincidentally by a power cut to the lights and an evil demon from nowhere".
 
I just hope that with it being a cross platform game that the pc does not suffer as by the time this game is released the pc is going to be miles ahead of the consoles in terms of power and I would expect eye candy to match.
 
Glad to hear there will be another Doom. I actually thought Doom 3 was quite submersive (but it was released during a very hot summer - it was better suited to playing on a cold, dark winter night).

I thought the first 3/4 levels in Doom3 were amazing. the rest looked the same and it was pretty boring. worst level design ever also.

The hell level, and the last 2 or 3 were nice as well.

If doom4 brings some variation on the gameplay it could be fun.
 
I remember being in a dark room with surround sound watching my mate play through it on the hardest difficulty - I didn't want to try it myself but it was still as scary - his fingers were almost part of the quick save/load keys by the end of the game :p
