Doomsday Preppers

Surprised no-one has mentioned gold coins/bars in this thread yet - almost always crops up as the go to form of currency in doomsday scenarios.

Personally - stockpiling food and medicines would be my preferred choice, as in such a hypothetical situation are likely to be some of the more valuable commodities.

It's not, but normally someone brings it up on the assumption that in an end of the world scenario that all existing currencies will collapse and that gold will somehow still retain a value as a precious commodity.
 
still have plenty of camping gear lying about the place, mainly because i cba getting rid of it than an apocalyptic scenario.

tbh if a large scale war is on the horizon, it'll be the kind where we can sit safe and watch it on the news, or the kind you dont want warning of and definatly dont want to survive.

If there is a big war the islamics will be making havoc. Ten times worse than before.
 
Stumbled across some "Minuteman" videos on youtube a while back, dear god, imagine, a military Walter Mitty wannabe type, an airsofter with all the gucci equipment, and someone who's seen Red Dawn a few too many times combined, and you'd get majority of these freaks.

People in charge of actual deadly firearms, living under some delusion, that at the drop of a hat all hell is going to kick off in the United States, and invasion will ensue, so they'll have to grab their "Tier 1" gear, and their "bug out bag", and go sort it all out like some Chuck Norris wannabe, when they're more likely to either shoot one of their neighbours through the face, or get blown away by one of their local law enforcement officers or national guard.

Does that guy who had 20 armalite magazines loaded with 5.56mm, ready to go just incase still visit this forum? Forgot his name. He sounded like one, but not as bad, sort of a diet version.
 
I live in bournemouth, an area that grounds to a halt with less than a cm of snow, doomsday would never make it here it would get stuck in traffic on the m27
 
i would accept my fate and live each day as it came

would it really be worth fighting to live alone in a post apocalyptic world ?

only because the rich already own it/them and make it seem this way to keep current prices and ''value'' high

in reality what use would gold have after doomsday ? all money would become worthless.

the new rich would be those with weapons/food/water

Wasn't intending to critique your list btw was just posting quick before work - no idea what other preparations, experience and skills, etc. you might have.

I've no idea how good the sawyer ones actually are but I see them recommended by people who know their stuff for extended survival. The lifestraws are more for the kind of worst case scenario I'm foreseeably likely to have to deal with where flood water reduces the amount of drinkable water to hand and I might possibly have to wait 2-3 days before the emergency services get their **** together.

Don't forget to have your dentist hollow out a molar and fill it with C4. You know, for when the zombies trap you.

Probably won't have to do much of the killing part - one guy I know who is heavily into it has 10-15kg of assorted knives before anything else in his pack and can barely take 3 steps before running out of breath.
