If you live in an apartment or joined house like a semi why do they door slam and make loud noises just because they are up?. Ive never door slammed, stomped and try to be considerate living in a apartment but others are like CRASH BANG WALLOP.

I know about this! We have the same problem with our neighbours, but they give us free sushi so it's OK.

I lived under various neighbours for a very long time. The bad ones (and there were many inconsiderate gits!) definitely affected my mental health badly. I know everyone and their maiden aunt has mental health issues now, but persistent, unanticipated noise from above seems -- to me at least as a fragile flower -- to be somewhat uniquely wearing.

Inconsiderate folk are inconsiderate by nature, not by accident. And you can't fix nature. You can only fix your response to it, and guns are illegal, so you need to form a plan for how you're going to escape to somewhere where... well, the noise will probably be from below, or outside, or through the wall! People gonna people, sadly.

My neighbour is an inconsiderate, drunk, abusive, violent scumbag who will often sit there drunk shouting at his drunk/druggie missus calling her an "Ugly, Fat ****" at the top of his voice like a 6 year old before one of them gets in the car and drives off to get more drink or drugs. There are often loud bags randomly through the house and he will often wake me up at around 5am while he is banging about getting ready to go to work in his drunken state from the night before. Pity nothing came from him and her being arrested for smashing someone over the head with a bottle, severing an artery and almost killing the bloke. Utter Scum..

I only live in a 4 apartment block but have been lucky for last year with below been empty. The owner moved into her daughters as she 88 and no longer look after herself properly. The daughter took it into her own hands and said to her relation she can use it as a business and she dont even live there. For last 2 weeks its been bang bang bang lol. Any way next door below is a 89-year-old with 23-year-old neighbour above and i hear her constantly shouting up from bottom of stairs. Last week she shouted. Your a bloody nuisance the day you moved in and your a bloody nuisance now and she stormed off.

Sounds a lot like my neighbours, except they also have two poorly trained chihuahuas that bark at anything and everything. They're smokers too and dont understand the concept of smoke rising, or having the decency to move away from the other flats. From 7am they're in and out going for a smoke, slamming the door and setting off the dogs each time. Half the conversations they have you can tell they're in separate rooms as they shout full volume at each other. They seem to always be re-arranging the furniture too, or at least thats what it sounds like through the walls.

A real PITA when working from home but i'm glad to be out the house most of the time, or home with decent headphones. Only positive is the smell of smoke got me to weather seal the front door area and it's killed any draughts we used to get.

I do think some people don't realise how loud they are or how jarring it can be, as they're so used to it. That or they're so loud they can't hear anyone else :D

I know what you mean some people head off to work here at 6.30 a.m and slam goes the main door. Pretty sure someone got as fed up being woken up as me as they rejigged the door closing mechanism so it closes slowly instead of slamming shut and I'm pretty sure that was unofficial

Crash bang wallop after 9 a.m, well thats just normal behaviour here first thing in the morning is when people head off to work/take the kids to school/workmen turn up, had them drilling and hammering yesterday. For some reason they're still cutting grass every other wednesday despite there being nothing to cut and it being wetter than a bog but no they still turn up with their ride on mowers and the noise shakes the whole building

If you're loud late at night then expect your neighbours to be loud early in the morning when it's your turn to try and sleep :P

Escalation never works with these people. More often then not they're a worse human being and so will inevitably stoop lower than you can go. They also typically just have a lower bar for all things in life and so you may find your escalation completely unphases them and just amuses them. We've recently gotten a neighbour with a loud boom box in our flats. It's obvious that they know exactly what they're doing because you'd have to be incredibly thick to not get it, but nobody can do anything about it.

You can ask nicely, ask not so nicely but sooner or later you're out of options that don't result in consequences. You could attempt to get the council involved, that almost definitely won't work and then when you come to sell your property you'll have to disclose it.

I think a reasonable amount of time it can be this.

There is also, our upstairs neighbours removed their carpets. I don't think they thought it through, so I think they used to bad mouth us to other neighbours until one day the guy came down to ask me to turn the TV down, I invited him in and pressed play. The look on his face.... "oh, that's actually not very loud. I can hear every word of that though". Yeah, cause you pulled up some half decent sound dampening...

These days I use headphones for almost everything. Tbh, it sounds better and means I can make breakfast or dinner without missing what's being said.

The new neighbours upstairs seem to be trying to set some kind of steps record. Don't they have a TV? Sit down for a while! How are they always walking about?! Even around 11pm... stomp stomp stomp.... stomp stomp.... stomp stomp stomp.

Tbh, my neighbours are fine in reality and it's one of the reasons I don't want to move. I can't think of many things worse than having inconsiderate neighbours.

Had this a few times, pacing about for an hours on end, exactly as you describe. Just wtf are these people doing...

Also started listening in to resident Scarface above me as I wake up in the morning, legit threatening people over the phone. "I will ******* kill you"!!!

What a freakshow.

We have excellent neighbours, hardly a peep out of them. We do chat to them mostly when we see than at their doorstop. If anything, it is a problem with us sometimes - our dog sometimes barks.

I live in a semi, but half of that, so it's like 4 quarter-houses laid out like a French fancy. Neighbours are all fine indoors noise wise and I'm on good speaking terms with one of them. However a neighbour in the house next to mine likes to sing drunkenly in his garden most afternoons which can be heard within a 50-mile radius :D (slight exaggeration there but you know what I mean!) Thankfully it's the cooler months now so he drinks inside, but come April, he'll be at it again for half a year until September. I'm still home-working, so I have to close my windows, especially when I'm on MS Teams calls :p

For me, it’s those who play (always crap) music blasting from their back garden or yard and can hear it doors away.

No need for this. Had to endure this in the summer til 2am!

They don’t seem to care about people need to wake up early, elderly or ill people.
