Door slammers and loud people

neighbours are fine (thankfully) but in other situations (work mostly) people can seem incosiderate, although I think they just don't realise/are less 'sensitive' to the ****** racket they're creating, most of the time :p ...I'm talking about people who will leave engines/machines etc running for no reason so a constant unneccesary noise or just making far more noise than needed when putting things away, closing doors/shutters etc

'do you want a ****** hammer' can quiten them down but it only lasts for so long - again I'm going to be optimistic and think they just don't realise and not doing it intentionally!

Escalation never works with these people. More often then not they're a worse human being and so will inevitably stoop lower than you can go.

Oh, it does.

I cured my noisy late night techno issue by putting my big speakers against the wall and putting on a Minor Threat CD at full blast at 8AM. I then went out for a long walk.

Problem solved.

If you live in an apartment or joined house like a semi why do they door slam and make loud noises just because they are up?. Ive never door slammed, stomped and try to be considerate living in a apartment but others are like CRASH BANG WALLOP.

Try living above Polish people, they love talking loud and slamming doors! - Thankfully I moved away from that hell hole

I’m happy for you. Wish I could have done it.

I just imagine clubbing them with my 6 iron instead as I close my eyes at night.

My in-laws have a neighbour across the road where you hear him banging away on a drum kit (he's absolutely **** btw). God knows how bad it is for his immediate neighbours.

I'm pretty certain he's partially deaf too, so that probably won't help either.

Musical instruments like that should be banned in homes unless you've built an insulated studio that's not directly attached to anything residential.

Live in a semi and next door is rented, empty for the last couple of months and it's been bliss, previous tenants were nice enough people but they let their kids stay up until 1am screaming and running around, literally sounded like they were jumping off furniture onto the floor or something and waking our kids up who go to bed and are asleep by 8pm

We had to get soundproofing installed it was so bad, which does work to a degree. Can't wait to find out what the next lot are like, viewings are happening at the moment

Could be worse, my sister used to live somewhere with her 3 children and the local council being so wise and thoughtful put a violent Heroin addict / alcoholic / drug dealer in the home above her. How great the people in charge of such things are, they think of everything

Seems to be a combination of two things.

1 - Properties not been sound proofed, I remember on one occasion I tried to get police intervention they pretty much told me, a lot of the issues are down to lack of soundproofing in properties. Which does make some sense, when you think about houses which would have been originally built to house one family and then later converted to flats.
2 - People been inconsiderate or even mentally deranged. The property above me I think has been used for work purposes multiple times, one lady who lived there was using work tools on a daily basis, there is DIY, and there is something else. Probably worst neighbour ever had.

The worst types of noise for me are the ones that are sudden, and obviously at night instead of in day, so bangs, drills, etc. Especially bad if there is a period of lull thats maybe a minute or two, but then suddenly starts again as means body cant adapt at all.
