So they can't release it in the mean time?
I doubt a game can be released when they do not yet own the legal rights to the name of it.

I had to make some edits because some of the syntax was pretty awful haha. I too am trying to get together a team, I have a few friends who will get dota 2 but not all of them will be very good. My suggestion to people is to learn to play all the heroes but specialise in 3/4. If you don't play all the heroes you won't learn their weaknesses. Every hero that might be considered more powerful than others has a counter to it that can shut it down.
For example, anti mage may be powerful late game but if you keep denying him his farm he will never reach his potential and will spend most of the game outside of the team fights, making it 4v5 for you. Furthermore, if you silence him and then stun him he can't blink away and his spell shield cannot block pure damage so a hero like outworld destroyer can decimate him with his 200-300 pure damage auto attack and slardars powerful stuns and hits will tear AM apart if he doesn't have the farm to get decent items.
Unfortunately it is rare that you cant a competent team able to perform such simple tasks as not feeding the enemy hard carry. If you watch pro games on join dota you will see how effectively a team can shut down the strongest of heroes to prevent late game dominance. Usually the most effective way is to get prophet or chen and push the towers. It's hard to farm when you don't have your t1/t2 towers and can be ganked easily in the jungle.

I find it sufficient to just read up on each champion rather than play them all which can be really time consuming. I'm still working my way through the roster to find out who I like best though
Jakiro, Drow Ranger and Bloodseeker are my favs atm.

Did you know if you hit random you get 850 starting gold instead of 600? Good incentive to learn heroes through going random as the extra gold allows you to increase your early damage a lot, allowing you to out last hit your enemies. They cannot deny you if they deal 55 damage and you deal 70. Simple as that. I would argue that your team setup would be more balanced if everyone went random rather than the standard carry/ganker setup.
Well they've released the beta and have shown no signs of slowing down with it, in the end they can just rename it, no?
You have to be very pessimistic thinking this game won't be released.
I didn't know that, I'll give it a go.
Haha I probably am incompetent tbh. I usually finish with a positive K+D although it's a team game so K+D isn't really important.
I've played about a dozen LoL matches and I dislike the higher number of ******** on there and the terrible graphics. I'm still quite a big noob at DotA but i'm going to stick with it while I'm not playing SC2.
Didn't say it won't be released, I'm saying they can't legaly release it without owning the name and the legal documentation has dates on it through april next year so unless the whole process gets sped up, which is not in blizzards interest and never happens in court, the game cannot be released until they own the name.
The fact it is in beta is irrelevant. They may end up changing the name just to get it released or possibly getting some court order to do so with pending investigation to the possibility that they may need to rename it.
It is possible that they do currently own the name and blizzard are disputing it, in which case they can release the game but will see a catastrophic fine and problems if they lose the case.

Seems more than likely, but you came out with the game won't be around for long as if that seemed like the most likely outcome.
You really think Valve would go this far in production and put this much money behind it and have not checked the legalities of using the name and even if they can't just rename everything![]()
Please quote where I said that.
Winning the beta key on that ocuk thread was one of the best things to happen in ages as I never knew just how awesome dota was :O. Can't put it down haha. Shame the game isn't going to be around for a long time now because of blizzard![]()
Time for some Broodmother =D My fav champ but I'm not too good with her yet.
How do you deny? The options won't tell me how. >_>

Turn on right click deny or a -> left click when the creeps are below half hp.
