Doubts about Ricky Hattons comeback

Why are they making excuses for him? He throws wild lead hooks that have about as much chance of landing as winning the lottery. His way of avoiding shots is parrying them with his face... Look how marked up he was... Very sad.

This is going to do the guys depression problems no good at all, I can only hope he has the right support after this and he doesn't end up on a downward spiral again

Exactly. I can't see this ending well. I'm sure someone somewhere in his family/camp had the same concerns that a loss would just make things turn sour again.

Exactly why boxers make a comeback is a mystery it hardly if at all ends well:(

They have nothing else.

And it doesn't matter how old they are, they always have a punchers chance.

Its hard for any top sports man to retire, giving up the adulation and hero worship, the money, the exposure, the training etc etc.

To just one day be left with none of that and the IQ of a Duracell bunny must be pretty difficult to cope with.

Yes, I don't follow boxing, all this stuff about drugs being mentioned in the thread too I never knew about, just decided to watch this :)

Guessing thats a yes then

Yeah, the guy was close to killing himself through drug and alcohol abuse. He has severe depression apparently

Sums it up perfectly.

Although this is not always the case. The perfect example of someone doing the opposite is BIG GEORGE, he turned to god! But still coul'dnt refuse a title fight at the age of 45:eek:

But they do , Hatton is a trainer/Promoter does public speaking.

I understand the void of the public adoring you , but I can think of a few million reasons why that shouldn't sportmen:p

A tearful Ricky Hatton, speaking to Primetime: "I thought I was maybe four rounds up but there were clear signs of ring rust. I hurt him a few times, and I was winning. I don't want to make any hasty decisions but I am really heartbroken. It was a good shot, I should have realised he was looking for that. I suppose that is what three-and-a-half years out of the ring does. I think I did alright - this guy only lost his unbeaten record in his last fight. I am just gutted. I am not a failure, that is not how my career should end but I have to have a good think about it now."

Yes but that is not good enough for them. The itch is always there.

Like i said above, BIG GEORGE who has turned his life around, went through severe depression before turning to god and grilling machines :)
