So, people stuck in 6 hour+ queues to get on a ferry to France. I dont understand where the delay is and "our side" appear to be blaming the French.

I have not used a ferry for about 40 years and don't recall the process, if the queue/tailback is on our side how is it a French problem? Do the French control the docking on this side?

Anyone more knowledgeable on it?

Certainly on the Eurotunnel, the border control on the UK side is French and vice versa when you arrive at the terminal in France, the border control is UK staff.

Only 50% of the passport control booths are open (French customs is on our shores) and they are on a "work to order" as per Frenchies loving to strike.

Its the bloody French controlling their borders!
Don't they know we are British, controlling the borders is uniquely our right and they should just wave us straight through.

Where's that stat from?

Port of Dover say they were installing 50% more new booths due to be open "before the key summer getaway weekend of 22-24 July".

It said they had 12 gates but only 6 were open - can't remember where I read it, BBC probably.

The French border control is in Dover. You have to pass through it before you board the Ferry. The queues are to get through that.

Despite the Port of Dover letting the French know about increased traffic today, the French authorities have only got half of their available border control booths open.

There is currently 4 times the usual traffic. Add this to reduced French Bureau Control staff = a critical incident and travel chaos.

Is it just ferries? Not affecting Eurotunnel?
Depends when you're going...
