Download Festival 2008

Not the most metal line up as of yet, but if they have other big bands playing, I dont really care, as long as there is enough bands I like playing, again, I dont care; Offspring and Kiss might be past thier heyday, but they'll still pull in fans who havent seen them before, and hell, if theres enough support good bands, people who like different bands will come and bring friends and it just ends up getitng larger and larger again; I mean who cares if the headliners arent the strongest, if there are quite a few good bands playing anyway, half of the point of the festival is the atmosphere, and if they get bands with good stage shows, it just makes it stronger, hell even the market side that was thier last year was really wicked, so much stuff thier that I just havent seen anywhere near where I live.

Half of the previous headliners couldn't achieve that either though, and yet it sells out. No doubt at all that LP will bring in more people than Tool and Audioslave could, and they've got about the touring power of SOAD, GNR, etc I reckon.

Spot on about the back catalogue but stage show... Nah, I disagree there, they've really picked up their game- they used ot be mince but if they take that stage the same way they did at Reading they'll justify the headline slot IMO.

Like I say, you can't have GNR, Maiden and Metallica headline every year :D And also, the idea will be to try and get people there who wouldn't usually, just like they tried with Feeder etc. Probably 30000 people or more would buy tickets regardless of who headlines.
 
Im not to fussed at the moment, the only 2 headline acts Ive seen in the last 6yrs of going to Ozzfest/Download have been Slayer and Metallica.

Its all about the smaller stages, better sound, better everything :)
 
Good no! Looks like LP are closing the festival on Sunday night. There sure as hell best be a kick ass band in the tent at the same time.

Nah It'll be Kiss playing for the close it's always the classic older bands that do the close on sunday last year it was Iron maiden the year before G'n'R(Well that **** Axel rose and some random session band)
 
I was reading a rumours page... I noticed "Ratt have confirmed that they will not be playing". That's it! No Ratt, no download!

edit: that also confirms slipknot for me too, as they are touring with disturbed later in the year :)
