DPD chucking boxes

This is common in our local DPD depot too. But saying that it's probably like that at most places and companies. What do you expect with manual labour? A fine mannered, caring about the contents of the package kind of chap. Or a de-evolved muscle monkey, getting jollies off tossing a box like it's a brain surgeons technique. Practically counting the minutes to his next smoke break or "get'un smashed" at the weekend :D

We have a Chinger deliver our stuff, top bloke .. for some reason he apologised for knocking my door twice the other day... im slow on the uptake to answer the front door these days in case there is a zombie there.

What on earth is a 'chinger'?

Whatever you do, don't put a fragile sticker on the box. This means the opposite to most warehouse workers. I've worked in the citylink main depot in when i was a bit younger. They do it out of spite because they hate their job. I doubt anything's changed at all since i worked there. This isn't isolated to just citylink either. They all do it.

My thoughts on this kind of thing is that even if you buy your item in a shop, it's already been through a fair old supply chain as it is. Probably something like factory to manufacturers international warehouse, then to national warehouse (unless it's UK made) then to retail warehouse, then to shop and possibly to some regional hub somewhere in the middle so that final leg of delivering to a house doesn't make that much difference.

False.

We have a first hand witness account from a forum member who has seen staff throwing boxes in the warehouse "for fun". There is no excuse for this. Simply saying get over it is not acceptable at all.

When stuff like this goes public, that's when something gets done about it.

A member of staff or most likely a temp on minimum wage gets fired for doing something every single warehouseman has ever done.

Pay a **** wage and you get **** results.
