Anyone work for DPD here?

Receiving my lovely GTX 970 today,DPD driver knocks on my door (very lightly)..by the time i make i get downstairs he has already moved on to knocking on next door..and the house after that that..i go outside to see him walking back to his van at 100mph.

i give him a yell,he comes over saying "thought nobody was in"..gives me the parcel and says Surname..Bye.

Didn't have one of those machines for me to sign for the parcel,I'm not happy at the fact that he was going to leave my parcel with neighbors either..how does he know they are trustworthy?..and a better question was he going to get the neighbors to sign for it?..if they had been dodgy neighbors (idk, they're new) whats saying they would have kept the parcel and denied ever receiving it?

Are DPD drivers in that much of a rush to do all their round that they gave up on the security of their parcels?

Although i wont deny it was a fast delivery service,Thanks Overclockers..its Pretty disappointing the above happens.

Have DPD driver for most of my Amazon prime deliveries [believe my OcUK order earlier this week was as well) and the service is nothing but excellent.

Get a text with an hour window for delivery which is always correct, driver is friendly and knocks a few times if it's early in the morning.

But like any job, I imagine it all depends on who's doing the job, some people just don't apply themselves as much as others :[

Also, excuse the random brackets in this post, today the 9 key and the close square bracket keys have decided to stop working haha

Yeah our DPD guy is fantastic, check on GPS where he is and how far away

I trust all my neighbours btw

You didn' recently buy a laptop off Ebay did you?

//our dpd driver is fantastic. Really friendly chap too, if I could get all my deliveries done by them, I would. I also try to avoid companies which use rubbish delivery firms, cos the stuff they get away with is astonishing and I feel like I'm sticking it to the man a bit :p

My brother recently started with DPD. They get paid per delivery IIRC so it is kinda in their interests to get the package dropped off somewhere. Melamine with neighbours is a common occurrence around here too. But our guys are pretty good, we have a "special place" for them to leave any deliveries if none of the neighbours are in.

DPD are the best i have found anyway unlike the idiots at yodel who nicked / lost my duff nas drive

I love DPD their service has always been outstanding for me I will happily always pay a premium to use them as long as they keep there standards as high as they are.

A:it's not your parcel till you sign for it.
B: the sender decides whether your goods can be left with a neighbour or not, not you.

I hope that has cleared up some of this misunderstanding for you.

It's more disappointing when parcel force throw your new camera lens over the back fence and forge your signature whilst you're at work :(

DPD are probably the best courier service never had any problems with them. could have been he was in a rush as they have to fit a lot deliveries in.

Don't blame the driver blame the company that tries to squeeze the life out of them by giving them way too many deliveries. I've always had good service from DPD.

But look at it this way:
- you got your item?
- item in one piece?
-if it's a yes for both of the above, get on with your life it's not worth chasing it

Got to say I don't agree with either statement you make:

A: The money will have been taken from the OP's bank account for the item contained in the parcel prior to shipping, which most definitely does mean it belongs to the OP! The courier has simply been entrusted with the job of delivering said parcel.

B: Why should the sender have the right to determine where the OP's parcel is left? It's the OP's parcel and if they don't want it left with neighbours (for any number of reasons which are of no business to the sender) then they should have the right to say so.

^^ Yeah he is wrong (sort of) on the first one - it is your item once it has been dispatched but it still remains the responsibility of the sender that it gets to you. (There might be some contractual variation on precise details).

You usually have some say over the delivery but usually its part of the terms and conditions that certain things will happen like leaving it with a neighbour unless you expressly indicate otherwise (hence why there is usually a box for delivery notes - which are often ignored anyhow).
