Dpd rant

Customers can just as bad tbh, had plenty of times when a customer has complained saying nothing has turned up even though I've been posted a note through the door, during the allocated time slot. (They have even said there hasn't been any note posted and adamant they were in) plenty of times I've banged doors, windows and looked over back fence to see if they in garden etc. If it's a high security item (phone, laptop etc) unless stated to go to neighbour etc. It has to be taken by the customer and photographed.
Why bother ordering stuff for that specific time and not be at home ready for it, or have someone there? Then complain that it has been returned to the depot...

I paid for weekend delivery as I knew I would be at home. The parcel had to be given to me and not left with anyone else. Lucky the picture is not of my house.

Yep that's how it works. Hence why DPD are one of the best. Each drop has specific instructions on the scanner, depending on what customer has specified or company etc. If it's high security and it's specified to go to customer only no exceptions then that's how it is. I usually put the parcel in the front door when they open it then take a photo with the door open of the parcel along bottom of the hallway/porch etc and try to get the door number in if they have one, door number doesn't matter that much though as it's GPS logged when you've taken the photo so they know if you're at the right location.

Dealt with lots of people trying to scam DPD but it just doesn't work, it's tracked everywhere it goes, depot security is high, the whole way through it gets to the customer it's tracked and logged with GPS etc. Unlike the likes of Hermes etc. Mickey mouse companies.

Sometimes we do what's called a "swap-it" you get a box or bag containing the replacement item for the customer, I get there take photos of the item they are returning on the spot, remove the replacement item from the box/bag I am giving to them then take a pics of it and the one they are returning in its return box and scan label in front of customer. As that can be easily swindled by customers trying it on by saying they sent it back (but in reality trying to keep it)

See all sorts of different people trying to scam in different ways.. yeah DPD ain't stupid :) this is why most companies prefer to use DPD.

My order of preference for delivery is:

1. RM Special Delivery
2. DPD
(quite a way back)
3. UPS
4. DHL
5 Evri/Hermes


I do really appreciate the live tracking that I get with DPD (and now Yodel!). Recently I had a DPD pickup problem but that was probably more the company I had to return it to not supplying the full, correct address.

@pastymuncher , yeah it's quite strange that DPD won't delivery to certain addresses in Scotland. I tried to send something to someone probably 5 miles from Glasgow and DPD couldn't give me an option to that postcode!

On one hand there was absolutely no need for that, disgusting.
On the other hand the owners shouldn't allow the dog to do that in the first place. They would have known fine well how the dog reacts to postmen/people at the door and should have put the dog in another room or something. Instead they let the dog run freely at the postman who "defended" himself, could be seen as a reflex for more than likely previous dog attacks. You could even hear the dog barking before running out, the owners are morons.
