Dragon Age 2 - Official Thread

Having played the demo, i cant see what all the fuss is about ? the dialogue was terrible, almost cheap sounding, the game play was just repetitive and boring to me, was the first that bad ?

i didnt play the first game. just tried the demo off steam now and ive got to say i agree with you. combat seems somehow off, very cheesy feel to it.

BRING ON WITCHER 2 !!!

I really enjoyed the first one, it had a great story and the combat could be pretty tactical if you control what the whole party does rather than letting the AI autofire.
I like the graphical update in the demo for DA2 and although it seems like a button masher I know the full game will be a lot more than that because of my experience with DA:O.
The voice acting in the first one always seemed a bit off but it didn't stop the story from being epic.
Judging this game on demo alone is a bit harsh. I'm surprised they made a demo for it really.

The combat in the 2nd one seems more fast paced and action orientated which for me is a good thing but from what I saw in the demo in melee combat the combat animations are a little over the top too often. I really liked that in origins you would occasionally lop someones head off or do some sort of cool finisher but you pretty much cut every enemy in half on the 2nd one

Got my signature edition today. Very good so far, graphics much improved over origins especially the lighting. Faces look a bit sharper than the demo also. Combat is actually more fun than origins imo. Mages are even more awesome than the first game :)

After the huge hands in the first game elves have rather large heads in this one which looks a bit odd to be honest and the dalish voices are rather annoying (irish/welsh hybrid). Anyway definitely worth a but just don't look in the pc thread :) If ever the picture of dawson crying was appropriate it is there :)

I just can't understand why you'd buy this knowing how much content they'll leave out and sell onto you later  I'll wait for the complete edition again, companies are really shooting themselves in the foot with these planned DLC. I always used to preorder games but now it's just not worth it when you aren't getting the complete package.

You dont have to buy the dlc if you dont want to. There is still no mass effect 2 complete edition and I'm far too impatient to wait over a year to play a game that I want.

Surely rather than talking English, everyone in this sub-forum should be saying 'herp-a-derpy-derp'?

Right, sorry, going off topic already!

For anyone else who's played the demo, is it just me that's finding the voice actor for the female Hawk far more believable than the Male voice actor? Quite disappointing as i typically like to play as a male in RPGs, but he's so naff i may have to resort to being a chick.

Being chatted up by dudes just feels so... wrong!

Typical Bioware innit. Commander Shepperd is definitely female, same thing with Revan.

The demo for me just showed me everything I didn't want to see. A story with none (or too few) of the characters I found interesting for ones that didn't seem to say or do anything. Dialogue seemed a little cornier, combat was awful. Never seen such a spastic combat system, maybe that was because I was a rogue and not a warrior but I was teleporting behind people to back stab them, flipping 5 feet backward and when just using the standard slash they was chopping so damn fast and seeing no reaction from enemy that it just seemed like two people in different situations.

Too many enemy as well, even during just the demo I got bored of killing a big swarm to have another swarm fill its shoes and then have to move not far before another fight with too many enemy. Just seemed spammy and to be honest the combat felt no better than ninety nine nights 2 which was very similar to it with the exception that enemy react to you putting a blade in there face.

Gorim was awesome. Shame you couldn't go through the whole game with him. The origins were a good idea but were rather short and then didn't really make a difference to the rest of the game. Dalish origin was definitely the worst of the bunch though.

Got this on PS3 yesterday and was playing in the evening. Cant understand why they took the quick-switch weapon toggle out apart from that (haha) seems fine so far although bit hard to work out whose attacking what... ages since I completed origins so might have been the same then or maybe its because I'm a rogue this time as oppose to tanking for my party members.

Been playing this all afternoon, awesome so far.

Much better approach than the first imo..... though the first was good, games without voice acting these days dont hold my attention as much as those that do.

I prefer this one to the original as well! At least I know what I'm doing as opposed to Origins where it wasn't until 20 hours I knew how to really play.
