You sure there's not already a thread? Anyway, will definitely get this, loved the first and even though it might be dumbed down a bit for consoles it should still be a great game.

I checked, only origins and a few spread out dragon age 2 trailers. :(

Anyway, even though i feel this is a dumbed down dragon age i'm still looking forward to it just not the many DLCS with milk :D

Please don't hotlink.

I have seen DA described as the spiritual successor to the Balder’s Gate series. What made now (or rather November 2009) the right time for BioWare to dip their toes back in the fantasy realm?
Well, I wouldn’t say that we see the Balder’s Gate series is an albatross…[MM: But is it seen as a weight around your neck?] Yes but there are two ways to look at that. Yes, we have fans from that era but in some ways we have moved on. We still have a lot of people here, including myself, that worked on the Balder’s Gate series and I think there was always an element of us wanting to go back to party based RPG’s, the closest we had got before was with KOTOR – but I don’t think of three people as a party, four is about the minimum. Having more people in your party causes all types of pathfinding issues. People ask “Why don’t you have horses in DA?” You want path finding issues? Try programming for creatures that are longer than they are tall! We always start every project saying that we are going to do horses and then it turns out to be so much hassle that someone says “Is this really worth it? Does it help tell the story we want to tell?”

Took me a LONG ass time to get into the style of the first game, it wasn't really what I expected at all but I did like it.

But the ending was so massively dissappointing, main game and DLC, you play through hours and hours of the game, talking with everyone, maybe overly long in some more important conversations and VERY long in some completely pointless rubbish. Then come the end of the game you get, a few lines of text, click to the next one and thats it.

Not even a decent voice over, its pathetic, it feels like it ends too abruptly, it almost seems strange to say but, at the end of THAT long a game and story you really do need a good cutscene, with the characters that were involved, high fiving you, or putting you in jail, or whatever, but "ending" the game in an immersive way that most importantly, FITS IN WITH THE ENTIRE GAME. THe game is cutscene and voice over galore so the text based ending just doesn't fit and left me feeling like the game never ended(in a bad way).

Mass Effect 1/2 got this right, as has almost every other game I can think of from Bioware.

Fallout 3 was a touch lame, but it did a voice over and various pictures and a familiar voice and while not as complete an ending cutscene as it could be, it wasn't bad.

Thats for me the biggest single improvement they can make over DA:O a real ruddy ending, literally nothing worse than a epic failure of an ending.

^ Well said!

Takes me back to the days of " Game Over ", when you've completed the game and a list of credits lol

Coincidentally I've only recently started playing the first game, so this should be a nice treat for when I'm done!

It was a really short game to be honest. It's those ******* loading screens with the blood that made it feel longer!

And the ending was the lamest ending to a game, ever.

Short, seriously? I think I played a different Dragon Age game to you. Also, which ending are you talking about (there are dozens)?

Yes, it's very short for an RPG that is supposed to be story driven.

I know there are dozens but having a screenshot and some text barely even depicting what you had done and how it affected the land was crap.

I agree, it felt like the ending was an afterthought, as if they'd run out of time and wanted it on the shelves. :( I was really gutted when I reached the end. The thing is, proper endings and cutscenes add extra replay value when you know that the outcome can be different.

I managed 75 hours from DA, I'd say that was pretty darn good.

I'm still looking forward to DA2, although I hope they integrate the DLC better, I can't be doing with entirely seperate episodes :/

so what makes this one more official than the other one apart from someone who isnt an official typing " * Official * " in the threads:confused: name

That's the rules of this forum apparantly, if it doesn't have **** in it it isn't official. As i said, if people minded the thread then that's great any problems the mods could close it :)

Seems to be going nicely, also nice i feel with official threads they should have a full template type starting post!

It's now available for pre-order on Steam.

Is the Black Emporium the unique item that was in the retail Signature Editions?

How the heck is Dragon Age short

I'm at 43 hours on my play through and I've still got Orzammar, the end then all the DLC to play. That seems pretty lengthy!

im playing it now but for the life of me i dont get the story, i started as an elf in a peaceful wooded area now im running around with ppl in sum sort on dwarf land lol mite start again with my new rig
