Dragon Age III - Thread

Same story with everything..EA move in an games fall apart. Its a shame theyve spidered into pretty much everything >.<

If they get into bethesda, i think i may cry

Meh. They can and will do whatever it takes to hype up the game. Fact remains that it'll never be anywhere as good as the first one. The second one looked so poor before it launched that it completely put me off buying it and I'm so glad it was one of the better decisions I'd made.

Give it up baby, Bioware's dead.

EA spies a golden goose and grabs its neck with both hands. I think it's only a matter of time before Bioware get shut down. It happened before to iconic developers, it'll happen again.

It is an endless cycle. Nothing can stop it. ;)

DA:2 most underrated game ever. DA:O, one of the most overrated ever.

Dragon Age 2, for all it's faults wasn't a generic "go kill this big bad yay its all over! :d" which the first one was. Hell, if you removed DA:O's "dark" ( lol ) world it would be a **** story. The only thing that made it special was the character relationships and partially, to a minor extent the world. It had outdated kotor style combat which is slow and has no flow. I don't mind slow combat but it needs to have flow as well. It was also mostly "go here talk to some people then kill this, done? talk to some more people" rinse and repeat.

Dragon Age 2 changed the combat to be faster, and more fun than the first, which it succeceded, it tried to be innovative and it was, it wasn't always "kill this and talk to dudes" but sometimes "explore this, investigate this, see if anyone knows what to do, oh, try and take it to sho- oh ****".
Sure, environments were reused but **** it, whilst the first didn't do that 99% of rpgs do. Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind, Kotor, Kotor 2, Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2.. hm.
I will give it to people the character relationships weren't as interesting, but let's be honest - the overarching plot is far better, and there is less diversity with the environment but that's because the story is centralized which tends to be better for immersion and plot development, and there was no real "big bad", but a series of aims and a twist the game led up too with a choice that worked well.
The quests tended to be easier aswell, but was that a problem? Most of DA:O's quests had you backtracking through zones fighting the same enemies etc, and this was labelled fresh by reviewers and players.

I don't understand how people can rate Dragon Age:Origins so highly and Dragon Age 2 so lowly. They're two different styles of game anyway in a lot of ways so when fans of a game with a different style of gameplay and story complain then it's obviously going to be negative.

I agree DA 1 was utter crap, Found it boring, Lots of micromanagement that i hated.

You also dont have control over your chars, you just click here, click there, and let them fight.

Very overated and its not a patch on or feels like anything regarding KOTOR.

Avoid!!!

I thought DA:O was a poor game. Haven't played the sequel.

The daft "program your companions AI" meta-game in DA:O frustrated me, and in any case there was much less strategy involved than say BG2.

I genuinely cannot comprehend how anyone thinks Dragon Age 2 is anything other than a terrible game. If you didn't get on with Origins then you may not like the genre or the way they did certain things (or you have no class ;)) etc. but DA2 was embarrassingly bad at everything it did. It was so lazily created it was painful playing it.

This.

and I think DA:O was awesome but I agree that the combat was frustrating to use

Simple. People who actually liked the type of game DA:O was, which clearly doesn't include you, found it excellent, even if it did have its flaws. DA2 **** all over everything the first created, not to address issues with the game like they sort of did with ME2, but because they were just feeling lazy and didn't put any effort into any single aspect of the game.

They will never live down the whole 'Press button for awesome' rubbish.

DA:O amazing

Bought DA:2 solely off how good Origins was

DA:2 was an absolute pile of steaming cow poo. Probably the most let down ive been in a game ever. I cant see how they did it so bad considering how good the 1st was (had its flaws) which is what you would expect them to fix in the 2nd.

Cant even remember anything story wise/battles etc in the 2nd it was so bland.

Pray Bioware can get some of that magic back, and bring DA:3 back to life. One thing for sure i wont be preordering like it used to be a given with Bioware games. Will wait for user reviews to trickle out, sont even trust any of the big review sites no more.
