While on the subject of Dragon Age.

Direct2drive have deals coming up.

23rd: Dragon Age II – £3.74
24th: Dragon Age: Origins [Ultimate Edition] – £4.99

I don't know why people complain about DA II so much, compared to what it was out at the time it was still an amazing game. I found the fighting system was extremely fun to play on a console controller.

Does this mean that it will be in First Person now? I'd love to have more RPG's in first person. Can't believe The Elder Scrolls series is particularly the only one!!

I never even considered buying DAII. It looked so bad from the get go and DAO is one of my favourite games to have come out in a long long time.

Too many miserable people on here moaning about publishers 24 seven. I guess EA ruined BF also.

BF3 was totally ruined when they introduced so many obvious advantages to those that play the game more and unlock stuff. In BF2 the stock guns could always compete, sometimes better, than the unlocks but in BF3 the stock guns are a bloody joke. The day I stopped playing was when I was trying to use the hideously inaccurate stock gun to kill people with it's weak damage and picked up another gun (AEK? something like that) which everyone on the map was using with a ridiculous scope that made it so easy to spot people and killed so many people in a row that I rage quit due to the advantage everyone else had against me just because they played for longer.

And thats the crux of it.

If I recall correctly, DA:O didn't do well on consoles, as it wasn't easy to play on a controller - and I remember there being lots of console owners complaining that it wasn't they were expecting (ie, it was more a 'proper' RPG).

Consoles are always going to be the lead platform under EA. You just need to hope they can find some sort of 'balance' - but I'll be expecting DA3 to be more like DA2 than DA1...

I loved DA:O (even though it didn't quite live up to the standards of my favourite RPGs, but I feel those days are gone forever), so I pre-ordered DA2 hoping they would improve on the first game in a similar way to how Baldur's Gate 2 built on BG1... I couldn't have been more wrong :(

I'm not going to hold my breath, but my love of great RPGs means I'm still (foolishly) optimistic for DA3 being a good game and completely redeeming the series.

I have to say that it's all relative though, DA2 was still an enjoyable game for me, it just wasn't what I hoped it was going to be.

Words do not do a good enough job of describing how bad DA2 was, but DA3 will be innocent until proven guilty for me. I remember saying just after playing DA2 that even though it is terrible, the frachise can still be saved and i do believe that!

They got soooo much stick for DA2 that they have to take it all in and improve.........don't they?

Playing as the Warden with Hawke as a member of your party gets my vote, with a return of the Origin stories but instead of origins they are catch-up segments:cool:

You realize it was released this year? A few months before TW2!

Are they trying to cash in on the Skyrim buzz? Tsk, thats a new low. First of all they compaire their games to the greatness of Baldurs Gate. Now they think they are going to get all the Elder Scrolls people playing DA3 by compairing the two games.

Dragon Age Origins was my favourite game on xbox, DA2 was embarrassingly bad. If they just took DA:O, re-vamped the graphics, took out some of the bugs and made it a bit less clunky I'd be more than happy.

I wasn't aware there were any strengths to Dragon Age II.

Combat is a lot more visceral / fast paced in the early part of the game compared to the early part of DA, in terms of how you wade in aggressively with blows against multiple opponents etc.

The UI is also streamlined a bit compared to DA in the sense that selling Junk is far easier, it has auto-highlight on items, and it is easier to see the effect of boosting stats (DPS, Attack, Crit chance etc).

Isabella seemed like a good character to me and she has some good dialogue.
