Dragon's den rant

It would be so good if british were as mental as americans, i would love to see someone come up and Ask for a 1 Million pound invesment for a bluetooth device that gets implanted in your face via a operation. there faces would be priceless, i like theo and peter, there the favorites by far.

I'd love to know where they stand from these investments. Total invested on Dragons Den to total profit. Peter Jones in particular seems to have money to flush away. He invests in just about any old poo that the others aren't interested in.

Any others?

It's a bad/disastrous start to the pitch = there will be blood. Children's inheritance will be mentioned with raised voice, there will be demand of "the figures" and what they will be looking for is "it's a number", Peter will ask what stops him "doing it myself" while Duncan's OCD will kick in via something along the lines of "it's stoopid, stoopid, stoopid idea". James, however, will offer the money, because he "likes the tie".

.. but mobile market/hotel market/leisure industry/retail tycoon Peter Jones/Theo/Deborah/Duncan/James has this advice for young entrepreneur = someone just brought in ready product that one of the dragon's dev team is currently trying to prototype and patent and they are going to tell them to foxtrot oscar, go home and get a job.

ive never really taken any notice to the narrator tbh, its a good show, people debate that the narrator makes it a better show, if he wasnt there it would be just 5 dragons in a room with some music
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for narration but it seems like a lot of the time in Dragons' Den it seems to be there just to fill time as it is a waste of it. They try to build suspense by having the long breaks with music between people talking but totally ruin the suspense when the narrator tells you exactly what is about to happen.

Any others?
Can Peter Jones Spot an investment opportunity where the other Dragons have not? = Peter Jones is about to make an offer and totally rip the guy off.

Also megalolz at the bluetooth implant.

I'd love to know where they stand from these investments.

Some of them fall through after the negotiations on the show but the one's that go ahead are generally successful I think.

Although usually the products or inventions are just the most subtle refinements of stuff that already exists.

Its not just me then lol..its like watching it with someone who pauses the show every 30 seconds, then recaps everything you've just seen, and then describes a Dragon's facial expression..I'm watching the damn show I don't need someone to tell me what I just saw.spoils it imo

What we might be missing, though, is that when the show is syndicated to other channels/abroad, the recaps might be timed for "after commercial break". It looks stupid on BBC, cause we just watched it in previous scene and Evan is telling us what the entrepreneur needs and what dragon's do second later, but if you are somewhere in Australia, or watch the show on Dave, there was probably 15 minutes of car insurance and furniture sales inbetween the two scenes...

Yep, that'll be it.

At least they've changed it slightly, I seem to remember a series or two ago, there would be a string of failed pitches, then the last 10-15 minutes would be devoted to a pitch that always got the deal, every time.

Well this seems a good place to ask the question:

Anyone seen Shark Tank? It's like an American Dragons Den.
1st Episode was hilarious, some guy wanted a couple of million dollars to create a bluetooth headset which would be surgically implanted in your skull :p Search on Youtube for Shark Tank Bluetooth

Just watched that
I'm on the second show now.

What irritates me is the regularity of the deals - you know that pretty much every show will have 2 deals that go through, one mid way through and the other at the end. The way they do this almost every time means you know when a proposal is going to go through which ruins the interest for me. Why the hell dont they vary it a little.

I've always wondered that. Seems stupid to me

That guy that sold his company for $3.6bn is an absolute ass. And they are definitely Sharks, solely in it for the money. It's been done deliberately to irritate and it does.

Kevin O'Leary? There was a massive screw up on Mattel's part when they bought his company, they basically forked out 3.6bln on a pretty facade - a sinking ship loosing crazy amount of money by the end of the same fiscal year. They then tried to sue O'Leary, but ultimately it was their **** up, they didn't check properly before they bought what was presented to them as sweet deal. It nearly brought them down and to rescue rapidly falling shares they actually had to pay another company to take O'Learys loss maker out of their hands.
One of the craziest deals ever.
