Going to get this installed tonight and have a play, i can't not have a caster of some sort in my party though! Will this make my life too hard?

Well I'm running: Ranger (Me) bowing it up, fighter dwarf, fighter human, and a human rogue-a-like.

The rogue-a-like and I have some spells, but so far it's the tanking/DPS of the 2 fighters that keeps me afloat, hehe.

I'm only at the moors though, sending undead to their eternal slumber, mwhahaha!

I played as a Rogue, had Forgrimm the Dwarf Fighter, the Amazon and used the Elven Ranger who I had focus on maxing bows, the summoning spell, thunderbolt and healing. She did draw attack from the rat mother and from the giant Emerald spiders first in particular, but but giving her +10 to life rings and using her summoned creature to tank, she lived through 90% or better of the fights and was great fun to play. The "Nature spirit" ghost bear you summon at the max is pretty stout and does some good damage as well.

I think Drakensang definitely favors melee characters and playing a pure caster may take a bit of patience and more strategic placements of your characters. The hybrid caster such as the Elf Ranger allowed me to complete the game with some challenging fights, but nothing that I would call to easy or to frustrating.

Basically, I think you can pretty much roll what you want and fill in the holes with the rest of your party, so no reason to throw that caster to the side.:)

Anyone managed to get v-sync to work with this yet - tears like hell even with all settings at their highest! Also seems to ignore the settings in the Nvidia control panel.

The Brewery is quite hard, got down to see the end boss but got mullered. Didnt help that i'd run out of bandages and the tea that cures poison. Have to go back when i've skilled up a bit more.

Yeah, that brewery cellar bit is a lot harder than you first think it's going to be. Best to leave it until after you come back from the second challenge of the main quest, should be level 8 or so then.

I did have it installed but after completing the swamp area and leaving went back to play it and the savegame wasnt there anymore, well i was truley peeved off with that and uninstalled the game.

Come back from the moors and still cant do the brewery! I'm level 6 but the swarm of adds keep killing me. Will have to pop back again!

Got this yesterday and spent most of last night playing it, well impressed so far. Looks gorgeous, nice and complex without being inaccessible. Reminds me of KOTOR a lot, pity there's not inter-party banter / tension like BG2.

It's as cliched as a brick mind you, but you don't mind so much when it's so well done.

I think the way the group members can only be added at further points during the game could have been done a little better. As it is i have the dwarf, the amazon and gladys and have got them nicely complementing each other. I'm now able to have the ranger and the rogue bloke but can't fit them in without losing out on some ability i dont want to drop. Means i have to wait until i get another party member i want to join so i can skill 2 of them up to make sure i have everything i need.

Can someone please explain this for me:

I have a choice of 2 weapons for my Dwarf, both 2h mace.
2D +2 (2W +3 with strength 17)
1D +6 (1W +7 with Strength 17)

I presume the 1D / 2D bit is dice but whats the rest about and what is best?
