Drakensang : The Dark Eye Bags Best RPG 2008

This has faded into the background of page 4 but i want to know if thre is any reason not to buy.

I like RPGS, M&M BG not so much NWN so can anyone reccommend this for me.

It is good. It does come with what seems a complex rule set. I ignore that as I am not interested in the number crunching.

It also seems rather large as well!

Can someone make a comparison ie this with BG, MM1, MM4, Oblivion Fallout3 etc.

I am thinking of buying but is it worth it, from steam.

As I said before in the thread, its nothing like Oblivion/Fallout 3. It's a party based rpg with set zones, no openworld. You have to micro-manage the party to be effective. It's closer to BG in style of play.

I was really enjoying the game but there are some things really starting to bug me. I am in a dungeon under the brewery and I have to kill rats. I have been at it for a hours now killing the same damn rats in a dungeon where every level looks exactly the same. Too make matters worse it looks exactly the same as the previous mission's dungeon. They dungeons are too big which does not help. Another thing that is just stupid is that all the rats go for my weakest party member the magic using rogue even if I keep her back and use her to attack last. She lasts seconds so I have come to the conclusion that cloth wearing classes are next to useless and will not be using any of them from now on.

Someone please tell me it gets better as I am about to call it a day.

Nothing they've just opted for a more complex in-depth RPG. These games aren't for you teki. :p

Aye which is a shame.

I understand Oblivion fine and that's pretty in depth. (apart from the alchemy bit)

It just seems like D&D style is a very small market and a dying one at that. Its about time they moved away from it.

really? :) So more BG than NWN you would say? How is the party interaction/interplay and such? Witty banter between the dwarf and the elf? Any romances? Betrayals? Juicy, twisting, mind-bending plots? Graphics look nicer than the demo i tried as well. Turn based or quasi-turnbased or ?

Is that a group of 4 warriors? Look great.

Yeh kinda but the female is an amazon/fighter/hunter she can use most weapons and is still good with the bow. I did have a wizard but controlling anyone with spells is a pain in this game , although they stay back they tend to get attacked outright by any enemy and die quickly.

No, it doesn't cut it for the party banter/interactions you had in BG, If only! Combat is real-time with pause, but you can treat it almost like turn-based if you wanted to, pause after each round. Can be handy in really tough fights. You need to queue up attacks/spells on all party members, if you don't they just do generic auto-attacks. As for the plot, its average, nothing special or epic, but I found that refreshing in a way.
