Draytek Router

I work for a company who has just suffered a major IT breakdown.

I was a technician ages ago and don't believe it is a router problem causing the outages.

One licensed software firm is blaming another and ultimately blaming this router. The problems are internal so I doubt it is the cause.

Is this a good make of router? I have come across this brand before.

Daytek's are reasonably robust bits of kits but that doesn't rule out that it's not hardware or configuration failure of the router - hence why you'd need to test it.

The problem appears to be internal, however the software is by various venders.

From the event logs a program was installed and failed knocking out a major piece of the phone system. A few minutes later the installation was successful from the event logs.

Unfortunately this coincided with the new router which was fitted by a different IT firm. All are blaming each other and I am no longer a techy.

The system failed to work after the failed installation and the software firm blamed the router which they say is poor quality.

What model is it? I've found their business 28nn/29nn series routers to be rock solid.

If they're blaming the router I'd want a proper technical explanation of how it could have had any impact on a software install.

Ask the software company what router they would recommend and get them to put in writing that they are certain that replacing it will resolve the issues. Change the router and then send them an invoice for the cost of the replacement and your time when it doesn't make a difference. People on the internet giving their opinion of DrayTek won't help you get your systems back working.

What is the system that failed to work?

Nothing wrong with Drayteks and I cant see how it would cause a software problem unless the router should be port forwarding to it. More info on the problem required though.
