I once had a bout of acute necrotising tonsillitis...basically, my throat started rotting, I couldn't eat or drink for about a month, I spent 3 weeks in hospital and all I could smell and taste was my own rotting flesh.

Worst thing was; they had to wait for it to clear before operating.

Christ! Zombie-fied throat

Can't believe they have kept you in overnight  I went in at about 7am and was home by 6pm. Think I was the last one to leave the ward as well :o due to sleeping.

You aint on one of the those swivel lcd things that cost like £81 for 5 minutes of tv or do they have internet cafes in there :D . Last time I stayed overnight in the hospital I was about 12 and the internet wasnt even born then.

Id come down and visit but im working at 2pm, I will be passin the hospital on my bike.

Also those wards with the old men are evil, I'd hate to be in the same ward as them, they walk about and rape you in the night.

ITS TOO LATE HES ASLEEP

I had permanent tonsilitis for 2 years before having mine out.

Now I have the joy of an annual chest infection.

Plus my stitching came loose after the operation and I woke up vomiting blood.

Apart from that, all is dandy ;)

thanks for the plesant thoughtmorat.... :D

i only had my operation at 5pm then only came round at 6pm, theres not a chance in hell theyd let m home last night!

cheets - cheers mate, i should be going soon though, figures crossed! yer im using one of those lcds, think the pricig got changed though as it used to b a joke! i've got a £10 topup card thingy, £3.50 of it has been used on tv for 25hours, the rest i ha to use up before i go! Internet costs 4p a minute so its not bad. Hard though as these little keyboards are **** and i have a piece o metal stuck in the back o my hand!

i just really wish these old men would stop passing wind! proper wet ones too :o

at least theres a coupe o treaty nurses ;)

gotta go try and eat something now :/

I think you have found the perfect excuse to buy a slush puppy machine.

Glad everything went well.

How did you get internet in your hospital bed !?

I think I ate lasagne and soup exclusively for about a fortnight.

You also need to be careful not to go out too much as the risk of infection is higher.

I had mine out when I was 24. I would suffer with serious throat infections for weeks on end - and my tonsills were the size of golf balls. I cant remember the last time I suffered a sore throat, and I'm now 31. ;)

Its the best "surgery" I ever had. Sure enough I felt rough for a week or so afterwards, but they made me have dry toast literally a day after the op.

I get tonsilitis really frequently, but when the doctor asked;

"would you like me to take your tonsils out"

I just replied "No actually im quite attached to them"

It doesnt stop you from getting a sore throat, just stops the tonsils swelling also you are more prone to ear infection from what i've seen, (my sis had hers out a few yrs ago, never had an ear infection in her life she now gets atleast 3 a yr)

How are you doing now? Is it all healed and is it any better?

I've just been the doctors today with my 2nd bout of tonsilitis in 6 weeks, had about 5 infections last year. The doctor has told me that I should seriously consider getting them removed, but not to take it likely and have a good think about it.

Is it worth it?

Also, my tonsils are very small and don't swell up an awful lot, but it's the general razorblade feeling, coughing up rock hard yellow stuff, and the general feeling of "omg kill me now this hell" is really annoying the crap out of me every few months.

I'm due surgery to remove a nasopalatine cyst. They slice round the inside of your top teeth, pull your palate back, scrape out the cyst, then stitch you up again.

Still, it's preferable to having a fricking weird thing growing in your mouth.

I remember eating lots of cold stuff like icecream to make it numb :D

Not fair!! I was forced to eat horrible scratchy foods like chocolate chip cookies, they practically force fed me a whole packet :D
