Dreamcast!

I've decided it's about time I got a console again and have decided to pick up a Dreamcast because I've never had one.

What games are must buys and why? What games are good for a quick blast if I haven't got much time? What peripherals are worth picking up?

I've done a bit of reading up on the web but would like some views from others as well.

Shenmue, great adventure if you didn't know already..

Power stone 1 + 2 .. amazing games for when you got lads round

tokyo bus guide, maybe just me but i loved this japanese bus driving game.

Just make sure you get crazy taxi and jet set radio. Most games can be found online or from local second hand shops. If you see mint condition VMU;s then buy them! these things are getting rare.

I agree its got a great story but the near on constant random battles are far too frequent.

I've been playing through it again on my dreamcast and it's still as good as it was back in 2001 when I completed it twice!

Ikaruga is a must, it's just so cool and it genuinely is a good game.
Really, the king arcade racer that you need, not "should get" actually "need" is Speed Devils, that's pure quality racing right there. Everyone loves driving round tornadoes, everyone.
Jet Set Radio is always worth a go then more goes, until it's completed and you've had a seizure.
I didn't get round to playing too many fighters but I had Dead or Alive 2 which I thought was a very good and addictive game.

Well really its unlike any other game you have ever played, it has elements from so many different genres (beat-em-ups, rpg's, adventure and more)

Its just fantastic, get it and you will not be disapointed.

Shenmue is a very good game, but it is quite slow paced and some things about the game can be annoying - one of the main things being you have to speak to everyone to move on.
