Dreams - Not the only one?

I hate those incredibly frustrating dreams where you can't move, or open your eyes.

Remember reading that the meaning behind them was that you were trying to work out a way around something, or to see a solution. :p

Not being able to punch someone? Throwing it and just as it gets to them it slows right down or grazes off them?

This is one of the most common occurring themes in my dreams. Along with running in slow motion. Everybody else can move full pace but try as I might it's like I'm punching/running through treacle.

As long as you and your friends aren't dreaming about a half-melted guy with 'knives for fingers', then your friends start dying one by one... As long as you're not dreaming that then you should be fine ;)

Trying to run but feeling like I'm stuck in treacle is one I sometimes have.

Also, my main recurring one is 'waking up' in my dream to realise that I've got a load of coursework due for school/uni (it varies between my dreams) and I've done nothing for it, with no chance of completing it. This is all despite finishing uni 8 years ago...

No matter how much time goes by, I still get the second dream from time to time and I always wake up feeling AWFUL.

I have the running in slow motion one too, being chased by something bad. It feels as if I'm running at full speed but yet I'm barely moving and whatever it is that's chasing me is catching up and I start to panic and wake up. I don't think I've ever been caught.

Being lost in a maze where I keep bumping into people from my past is another one I have occasionally, would love to know what that means.

Hiding under floorboards while some 'thing' hunts me. It stands above looking around and then suddenly stops and looks right at me through the crack in the floorboards. The wind is howling the whole time and the figure has a long black coat on. Had that dream since I was young but I don't have it so much now.

Ok if this is how its going down. Similar restrictive one like the punching one. There have been multiple dreams where when I try to run, my body is moving at full running speed yet I am moving slower than walking speed, usually running to or from something and making no progress. Frustrating, then I wake up and have some cheerios.

I have the same sort of dreams. The not being able to punch, or not causing any harm to them with my punches, despite my best efforts. Alsothe not being able to run away one, but I get tired very fast and slow right down to a walk, rather than running at full speed and only moving slow.

Also have another where I am pulling my top teeth in with my bottom teeth, until they snap or fall out. I also know I'm doing it in my dream and try to stop but cant. Very strange.

From what I have been told all these dreams are down to anxiety, which fits in my case.

Dreams are personal to every individual. I don't no anyone yet who has had the same dream. Possibly similar experience in the dream but certainly not the same dream. I had a dream last night that someone come over to me and slit my throat. I could not see who it was and it was in colour.

I sort of get the similar experiences. I have ones where I try to move and I can't.

The being unable to 'punch' dreams are very common. That's not to say I know what, if anything, it actually represents.

The punch can be replaced by an inability to defend yourself i.e. a lack of strength and/or speed.

I get one where I need a gun and I can never find hte right ammo or the gun just doesn't fire. I am often able to play musical instruments too somehow, I just pick it up and manage to do it.

Ive always thought that the reason you get the feeling of "slow" punching, or not getting the feeling of running at full speed is because you are lying down in your bed with a duvet over you, which restricts actual physical movement, so whislt your brain can replay the mental "feeling" of punching, or running, physically you are unable to do so.

I may be completly wrong though!
