So I want to finish the chieftec dragon mod that I started working on last year now that I've almost finished my exams.
Does anyone know if B+Q or the like sell their own dremel like tools (though cheaper versions :o).

Yeh the proper job is not to bad for what it is.

They probably do a copy, no idea if it would be up to much mind.

Could always phone a store and ask if they stock a alternative to one.

Check the auction site and a certain supermarket, they will have mains powered hobby drills, good quality and at least not in similar price to Dremels. Got a couple myself and excellent.

Id recomend you get plenty of blades, i went through a few just trimming the 5 1/4" blank plates on my lian li when used them to stelth my CD drives.

Its a shame theres no picture on the site, the reinforced ones are best, i cant tell if they're the reinforced ones or not. It'll take you forever at any rate, i used my dremel on a cheapo thin case side and it went through a good few blades and took ages. A jigsaw would be better if you have one, with a fine metal blade.

I got my dremel and a 175 piece set of tools for £50 off ebay inc delivery, came with loads of blades.

If you're cutting through considerbale amount of thick steel probably more sensible to use a angle grinder, then finish off with a hobby drill.

With proper disks (think i got 10 for something like £8) and about 2 just broke randomly. I was cutting a 120mm, 92mm and a 80mm in THICK steal (of pinky!) and sometimes a disk would break after half of the hole. Then some just never broke and just gradually wore down. A good bet if your going to be doing a lot is to get a diamond disk, cost about £10 or so but pretty much never break. I know i'll be getting one next time i do a lot of cutting.

I got a cheapo one from sainsburys' hardware place (can i say?) for only like £20 with loads of bits and has been very very useful and have had no problems with it.

mod: you can mention Sainsburys in this way, and this goes for other places like Tesco, Argos, Game etc. Just please don't talk about them in a way which puts them as a competitor to OcUK, ie no talking about computer equipment etc that they might sell.

Last thing if your cutting steal use googles or you'll regret it. Cutting steal is fun - Lots of sparks :p

Thanks for the tip, I'll check sainsbury's. And I think you can mention supermarkets.

I don't mean sainbury's, i mean the place thats often near them i.e. Homebase (is that ok to say as i don't think it sells anything the same as OCUK?)

There and B&Q sell all sorts. Also random little hardware store can be very useful for information and the odd things.

I got my extra bits from an online site, try google and you'll find what you need.
