Dress code for the theatre?

You should probably be able to tell from the tone that I was joking. Oh well, way to take yourself too seriously and spit the dummy. GTFO indeed. Thanks for that

Americans get overly sentimental and go OTT on relationship stuff. I have notice a lot of young people in the UK copying this. Clearly you're not in the mood for humour so, if I'm still allowed to post, the last time I took my wife to the theatre, which was about two weeks ago, I wore jeans, shirt, shoes and that was fine. She wore similar. A very mainstream show like Evita is not going to be dressy.

How the hell could he tell you were having a laugh with your original post? I thought you were being serious also. Always use a safety wink if you want to make a joke! ;)

I will highlight a few clues that would make it unlikely that I was being serious........(I was taking the **** though)

What is with people these days - you do not have an aniversary - you are not married. If you were a normal man you may have a vague idea that you have been seeing your bird for about a year. While you're at it, why don't you give her your class ring and take her to the prom. Stop being american please.

If you must do this, the theatre tends to be fairly casual these days with the exception of opening nights. Spats, DJ and top hat should do it.

Yep, deadly serious:confused:

Seems people have lost the ability to read anything vaguely subtle without smilies to point them in the right direction. ;)

Anyway, it wasn't my intention to hijack this thread, was just playing around. Just tell her you're taking her out to dinner, it's the same odds dress code wise as someone else pointed out.

Yeah well I figure Ill just get her to take a few options with her and she can decide when she gets to the hotel :)

Cheers guys

Not really, no-one can tell what tone something is written in unless pushed towards that direction or being aware of your sense of humour from knowing you in real life :D

Because I know how to spell, but went through and corrected the spelling "errors" that shown up with an underlined red.

Must be set to us dictionary, stupid web browser :(

I put the text of your original post in this thread through my Sarc-o-Meter, and it came out with the following.

"Potential sarcasm detected, however, sarcasm threshhold dimished by lack of prior mirth to indicate motive and use of specific stop being american statement, indicating possible general OCUK intolerance. Possible sarcasm overload resulting in sarcasm polarity reversal. Reccomend use of wink smiley in this instance. Alternatively recommend use of stock pasty or orbit nuke reference to indicate posts general lack of useful input, thereby reinforcing sarcasm undertone."

There you go.

I wouldn't of even posted it on here, but its nice to have something to talk about to while away the hours at work ^^
