Drinking at work

Alcohol has been banned on my work site for 4 years (apart from Hand Gel that is) it's Gross Misconduct if any is found, then again it is a hospital.

Depending on the environment it isn't either, I agree. It is unprofessional in any client facing role though.

I always find it sad that some people get so excited about their work Christmas lunch / night out and how drunk they are going to get. For some people it really is the highlight of their whole year.

Apparently the Christmas party before I started, they started off with Booze in the office before going on to a pub, 3 people were ill in the office toilets before they made it out of the office because one of our directors is a drinking game monster, and the youngsters can't keep up.

I spend my working life trying to avoid those people. Last thing I want to do is socialise with the cretins. And probably the same people slagging you of when your not there.

I work in the middle of nowhere, everyone drives to work hence drinking would be a touch irresponsible.

Every Friday we have "beer o'clock" where we have booze provided for those who want to drink (responsibly, no drink driving)

I work in the Navy - any excuse to have a drink, wether its in the office, or on the flight deck - we welcome it...

Lab staff in a hospital here - if I drink, people die. Maybe.

At my work all the people in the London office get beer/wine put on their desks for them every Friday. But then they also have unlimited free soft drinks, a 360 & PS3 room etc etc.

We were bought a nice 42" plasma TV, that we can't show TV on because they won't buy a licence, we can't play DVDs on it etc and have to pay £1 for a bottle of coke :S
