Drinking at work

I used to work with a friend and one Friday lunchtime he popped across the road to have one drink with someone who was leaving (I didn't know them) anyway come 4pm and we have a meeting and I realise he's not been back since he went for his one drink.

At the end of the day I had call his wife to come get him, they'd been drinking all afternoon!

A work in a school and college so it's pretty much a big no-no. Although a couple of the 6th Formers have asked me to go for a pint on lunch I've declined obviously.

Boss did get a really nice bottle of whiskey for xmas and gave me a quick drink of it before we broke up for school holidays.

We get random drug and alcohol tests due to the nature of our business. Engineering on Highways, Rail etc so drugs/alcohol are a complete zero tolerance.

In my company at around 3.30pm on a friday is beer o'clock where teams will do a beer round and we can drink in the office. In fact, as I type I have a pint of Strongbow to my right (not my usual choice but was leftover from our company festival and as such was free).

Furthermore, on the last friday of every month, the company pays for the beer.

As for stories, surprisingly nothing too mental, probably just people falling over.

Never drank at work tbh, but a mate of mine works at a design firm and he often tells of the manager saying sod it lets go to the pub...

Why cant I get a job like that! lol

We used to go for a pint with our A level geography teacher quite often. I seem to remember one of our science teachers treating us to a round down the pub for our final lesson! :D

Pft, go for a pint with em.

Friday pub dinner (that's lunch to those "edumacated" peoples) is a regular thing here. Just 3/4 of us. Today I had a pint, a meal and then an amaretto & cranberry juice. Since then I've been quite productive, relaxed and happy. Love it.

We do a lot of school night drinking too though, get on very well here. Thursdays and Fridays most of the office is hung over, it's quite pathetic really, but we soldier on! Such a great place to work :D

Can't remember drinking during work time, execpt from organised events.

But I have came in from a few very boozy nights out, a few occasions 1-2 hours sleep. Get away with it most times, execpt the other week were my boss had one look at me and told me to go no where near the van!

I did, back moons ago go on a bender at a mates house lost all track of time and had a taxi at 6am outside his house waiting to pick me up to go to work. Boss made me work my shift, as couldn't afford to lose me told me never to do it again and that was that. I was pretty bad though, couldn't string a sentance together bad.

Used to work opposite a pub in Farnborough and we ended up there every lunchtime, different culture back then though, going to the pub and necking a few pints was encouraged rather than frowned upon.

Had a bottle of vodka among other things in my drawer for the last few weeks, one Friday night we were doing shots...

/The move 40 computers, then the desks and set them up on the other side of the building night..

I remember in college we all went down the pub, I had about 4 pints and then had to give a talk about some electronic crap, not good! (I was 17, so 4 pints was a lot to me:p)
