Bought a 2TB WD green and running into a slight issue with it, not sure if it's the drive or some other issue though.

When I got it, first thing I did was put it into another pc and copied 300GB or so to it. There was no problems at all. Then after that, I moved it to my main pc and this is where the problems seem to start.

Basically, it doesn't seem to like being written to for an extended time, even though it was fine in the other pc. Here it shows up fine, responds fine, can be copied from fine, no issues at all. If you write a single file to it, then wait a little, before doing another, it's fine.

If you try and copy a big load of files, or even manually quickly do one after the other, then after a bit it does one of two things.

Claims "Can't read from source file or disk" and then when you try and open a file or folder on the new drive you get an error message stating "location is not available, drive letter:\ folder or drive letter:\filename is not accessible, the device is not ready. Source is fine. Same error from multiple sources. And those sources can copy between each other fine.

If it doesn't do that it will do this. The copying status window will just sit doing nothing, and then when you check my computer it just has "local disk (letter)" with no capacity bar or *.* TB free of *.* TB underneath.
Cancelling the copying does nothing, just sits there, have to reboot the system.

Works no problem in the other machine. I already have two of these drives in this machine and they behave fine, it's just this one. Don't think it should make a difference, but this drive was a replacement for a smaller one in here, so occupies the same slot, so the port is fine as well.

Any ideas?

Sabertooth 990fx, not sure what bios it's on. Drive is on one of the 6Gb/s ports provided by the amd sb950 controller.

Had two identical drives in there already and they play nice with it.

Tested it on the sata2 speed ports? Just curious

Also any fw updates for those drives, check to see if they are running same fw as your working drives

Stuck it on one of the two 3Gb/s ports provided by JMB362 controller.

Copied 75GB to it without issue, so at least for now it seems to be playing nice. Will carry on testing a little more with it on this port.
