Driver caught doing 154mph and only gets 56 day ban!

Also, I'm slightly surprised about how many people here claim to have never hit three figures. It's worryingly easy in anything moderately new thats 250bhp+

I think you'd also be surprised to find how many people have never had a car that's 250bhp+

i got fined £300 quid for speeding in my Jazz 4 months ago...........but no ban, but only just, this was in the New Forest at Lyndhurst

BUT.............the Jazz is extremely dangerous over 90mph, it is twitchy as hell esp on a motorway in crosswinds, IT MAKES YOU SWEAT WITH SHEER TERROR .....the steering goes all loose and the car twitches from side to side.

A friend of mine may have done lots of top speed runs whist commuting on his 1000cc sports bike. Allegedly it is limited to 186mph, so he had to prove this.. it seems the bike did stop at an indicated 186mph, but that was only 178mph in reality according to his GPS.

Whilst that sounds omg, on a completely empty road with massive visibility, where is the real harm, and why would 178 be omg more than 100mph? Anything serious happens and its bye bye.. fwiw, He said it felt stable and safe, and never once remotely cam close to endangering anyone as he would slow appropriately when traffic was around, or coming up to junctions etc.

I think context is everything..

You guys are lucky there are so few cops over there to actually catch you, they hide behind overpasses here... no one wants to see a State Trooper Charger with flashing lights behind them.

I got pulled over for doing 120 (in a 60) but it was alright because my daughter had been taken to hospital. The policeman said 'you won't lose your license but you're going to court' and I thought sugar I'm going to get 9 points etc. but nothing ever came of it.

Some bikers got caught doing wheelies and around 150mph along the bypass around our way. The longest ban handed out was about 50 days or something. Pretty lenient.

Not surprised they got caught though, they seemed to do it quite regularly. I even could hear them from where I live in the evenings :P

I did 160 indicated last week as well on the Autobahn. My dash lit up like a Christmas tree and the ABS had a fit mind!

In fact while on the continent I have found it quite difficult to keep it under 160km/h on the motorways.

fast speeds like that are best reserved for a Drag Strip with a full roll cage inside..... as for speeding on the roads, well it's almost impossible not nowadays.

``25 is plenty``.......... no way, it's far too low for this stretch of road

So, usually sit over the speed limit, then straight away say you stay within it 99% of the time.

Which is it?

I'll have tobe very unlucky for a copper or camera to flash me at tthat Speed on the motorway. That's what I meant. Then again 99% of my driving is in a 30 zone.

all the really fast drivers in the New Forest go out at night, after about 10pm, you hear some really powerful cars.............but never during the day, this is probably due to their work and the fact that the roads are way too busy earlier on.

I've been 180mph + on the autobahn. Completely safe depending on conditions, traffic etc.

I wouldn't say its completely safe - heck even driving much slower is never completely safe. There is no question the risks of driving at 180mph are significant irrespective of the road you do it on.
