Howzit guys,

I need to get a PCI Serial card working on my Windows 7 machine. The card name is: PCI-2S-550.

I found loads of sites 'claiming' to have the drive and it wants you to download Driver Detective -

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks guys!!

Tried that one - it installs via .exe and thats it? Used Device Manager to reinstall the driver afterwards - still nothing.

Thanks anyway guys!
Appreciate the help!

Try this:

  1. Open up the device manager (press [start]+[r] to bring up the run dialog and enter devmgmt.msc).
  2. Find the card (it'll have an exclamation mark next to it probably)
  3. Double click on it.
  4. Go to details
  5. Change the property to 'Hardware IDs'
  6. Copy/paste everything in the value box here

Hi Pho,

I believe this is what you're after?

PCI\VEN_1592&DEV_0786&SUBSYS_00000000&REV_92
PCI\VEN_1592&DEV_0786&SUBSYS_00000000
PCI\VEN_1592&DEV_0786&REV_92
PCI\VEN_1592&DEV_0786
PCI\VEN_1592&DEV_0786&CC_078615
PCI\VEN_1592&DEV_0786&CC_0786

Many thanks!

Still no luck. :(

It installs the driver - thats it. Doesn't detect the card or tell me where it has installed it. Even uninstalled the device and let windows search the hdd for drivers - still nada. :(

I give up! :(

So the device is showing up in the device manager without drivers still? And the driver installer does something but you're not sure what?

That is correct. It extracts some files to the C drive (Does not show the path or files being moved to the PC)

Then that's it. :(

Depending on which version of Windows 7 you have (x86 or x64) navigate to:
Driver_Win764\ then extract Win7_64Bit to your desktop (do the same for the 32 bit folder if you use the 32 bit Windows).

Then to install the drivers:

  1. Open up the device manager (start > devmgmt.msc)
  2. Find the card you're having problems with, right click on it and go to 'update driver'
  3. Select 'Browse my computer for driver software'
  4. Click 'Browse' under 'Search for driver software in this location' at the top
  5. Navigate to the folder on your desktop where you extracted the files earlier. Click OK.
  6. Click next

Hopefully that should then show it up.
