Driving in snow

rolling it on the clutch not working? surely you have enough torque and anti-stall for it to move, or is the hill too steep?

Its pretty steep but I never thought of just using the clutch. I'll give it another try tonight before it ices over again.

No idea but I've been told this before and seen people do it. Seems to work as well, must be to do with the steady power increase and fact it's the front wheels pushing the car up the slope instead of pulling?

Considering I have fairly wide 265 rear tyres, twin turbos and an autobox the 300 copes fairly well with it switched into HOLD mode, this seems to limit the torque and makes life pretty easy even in compacted snow/ice, still have to be very gentle with the throttle as it will kick the arse out.

But all in all no problems encounted......yet.

Well Reading is officiall ******. Took me 2.5hours to do the 6.2miles home.

Over 3 inches has fell in that time and I have just had to abandon the car at the bottom of a hill.

Snap, apart from I didn't get anywhere near home, and am back in the office

The who centre is still jammed
320bhp, RWD no traction control and wide tyres, aren't fun in the snow.

Whitchurch Hill was fun earlier, despite doing 6mph I manged to get a 45deg slide on! Thought I'd end up in the bank. That road must be impassible now as it's pretty steep!

It took me 2 hours to do about 5 miles and i ended up leaving my van in a random car park and walking the rest of the way

the roads around surrey are pure KAOS !

I was heading South towards Arborfield, only made it as far as the Kendrick School. I was just having issues with the camber in the road.

Oh this is going to be a barrel of laughs when I get back home, I've been in Thailand for the last 2 weeks, I haven't seen the temperature go bellow 30c in the day, infact in Bangkok (where I started my trip) it was 34-35c most days. Watching the BBC World News in my hotel it's unbelievable, really does not feel at all like December or Xmas here, yet at home it's a White Xmas

...last year I had some real troubles with my BMW, I expect the same with the Jag though, although it does have a bit more weight in it so hopefully I can get a bit more traction on the back wheels.

I live in a very hilly area and need to use a lot of smaller roads that rarely get gritted, so problems abound I expect.

That was at 3pm, then just worse and worse.

I ended up taking 30mins to do 20metres behind a bus. The bus was sliding everytime it pulled away, much to the fear of the pedestrians.

It was ok this morning, and the forecast for Reading didn't mention Snow to this level in Reading.
