Driving pet hates...

Drivers with DRL's on when it's almost completely dark, so you end up with blinding LEDs at the front and no lights at all at the rear.

I bet 99.9% of these cars also have an automatic light setting, so there's no excuse.

.

For me, auto lights shouldn't be a thing. If you can't tell it's dark and turn them on yourself then you have no business behind the wheel.

Funny.
No business being behind the wheel if you need, auto wash/wipe, auto wipers, abs, traction control, stability control, climate control, self parking, city stop, blind spot detection, anti stall, auto mirror dipping. Even an automatic if you cant use a manual gearbox you should walk. How dare we have conveniences to help keep our eyes and attention on the road and off the instruments, now to just get auto indication and install it onto all the taxis, bmw and audis.

I would say headlights for the vast majority of people would be something you do when you get in and don't touch, unlike everything else on the list. My car does have auto lights but i prefer being old school as sometimes it doesnt put them on when i deem it being dark enough.

My only concern with auto lights is the potential to mess up if your next car doesn't have them. I'm sure this is becoming less of a risk the more popular they are.

Fair enough, i see your point, ive actually done this when my mondeo was in for service and they gave me a fiesta, people flashing me reminded me i hadn't switched my lights on at all, so that definitely happens. So used to just jumping in and driving off. I stall most older cars as well now, so used to anti-stall.

I'm more concerned about the 1,000,000 Lumen 5000K+ LED dipped headlights. Bright white dipped headlights impairs your vision drastically outside of the sharp LED cut-off and for other drivers. I would love to see a max Lumen regulation applied for dipped and max kelvin rating set at 4000K or there abouts.

Anti-stall? Why is that a thing? Its just going to make people forget how to drive a manual properly...

I agree, but it is handy for noobs. Just mash the clutch down and it'll start again and the traffic continues on.
That's not anti-stall, that's stall recovery.
Anti-stall on mine revs the car for you when you let the clutch out, to an extent obviously it wont rev enough to allow you to set off in 3rd or if your too fast but normally setting off in 1st and 2nd you don't need to touch the accelerator.
I love it, most useful when your on a hill in traffic, just the one pedal to use.

The two aren't mutually exclusive. You are aware that the simply existence of automatic lights doesn't preclude you from knowing when they should be on and being able to turn them on yourself, right?

Ah I see, yes not what I thought. Yep, sounds a little odd to me but must be good for hills. How does this impact on the clutch? Negatively i would have thought in some cases.

Not at all, probably better as it doesn't over rev, only as much as is needed.

Roundabouts...

People who are in lane 1, merging into lane 2, and then back into lane 1 whilst exiting. I've had this recently 3 times on 3 separate roundabouts within a mile of each other. People don't seem to understand why I get peeved off when this happens. Must be something in the highway code that I'd missed.

For me it's drivers who are unaware of the width of their car and need to leave a huge gap when passing parked cars on narrow roads, forcing me into the curb.

Car was a gift, so I got no choice anyway. However, ABS and anti-skid came fitted as standard, and I have a switch to turn the anti-spin off. Climate also has an off switch. I can use a manual so feel perfectly entitled to drive an auto, but would really rather not.
I don't have any of that other crap and didn't know half of it existed. I certainly don't need any of it, as I was doing fine with just the bare minimum on my bike (non-ABS model).

Oddly enough, I find the more **** like these gadgets people have, the less attention they seem to focus on the road...

Well, yeah..... how else are they going to force you aside and get past you?

I didn't quote your post but to keep it in context of Residents post. My auto lights have an off switch as well and an on as well as auto, only time ive ever used it was when it was in my friends garage so i turned the lights off rather than leave them on.

Ah yes I forgot, how inconsiderate of me. On a serious note it is annoying how blasé these people are after they've done it. Almost like roundabouts merge into 1 lane.

Anger..

From that big list all I have is ABS.

You dont have auto wash wipe, where when you wash the windscreen the wipers start on their own usually 3 wipes then one a few seconds later?
In days gone by that's two separate things to do, squirt the water then use your wipers.

Another one to add is auto-cancelling indicators, used to have to knock them off as well as putting them on.
