Driving pet hates...

Know your place, peasant.
It's obvious they own the road... For those who can't read, you can tell by the badge on the front of their car!!

That's been standard ever since I had an interest in cars... roughly whenever B-reg was the new number, I think.

That's also been standard ever since ^ ... and yet I still see people somehow able to drive around with theirs flashing away...

My original point was. Autolights will eventually become standard and people will think nothing of it. To say you shouldn't be driving a car if you need autolights, is the same as me saying you shouldn't be driving if you need auto-cancelling indicators.

I thought of another hate, happened this morning. M62 off between the M60 and M6 is now 50mph, so set my car to 50 and happily on my way, close up on a car in lane 2 so just leave my car doing 50 in lane one and undertake him doing what must be 45. He flashes me for going past. I look back and countless people are going round him via lane 3 and quickly cutting back behind me in lane 1 guessing to make more of a point. Hes still sat there in lane 2.

I've driven for a short while indicating left. On my drive home from work there is a junction and because of the way the road goes it's not enough to cancel the indicator. Only happened once and for a very short distance before I realized though. I've seen some go for miles like it, obviously completely oblivious of the fact they have indicators and have just accidentally knocked it.

Another pet hate is the increasing number of cars that have lights out on them, so many I see and think how they won't pass their next MoT. I hated the fact on my car when I bought it that there was an advisory (well 7 actually which helped with the bargaining) and I quickly put them right - sailed through the MoT last week with no advisories.

People also shouldn't be driving a car if they need airbags, instead they should have a cushion in the glove compartment that in the event of an accident they get out and put in front of them.

I was taught to actively cancel mine when learning to drive.
But every car I have ever known (which is a fair few) has an idiot light flashing on the dash, and a loud 'click-clack' or 'bing-bong' style audible warning. Do people drive with eyes closed and the stereo on really loud, or something?
To be fair although i can see the idiot flash on my dash, the noise is getting quieter on each car i own to the point where in the mondeo if you have the radio on at all you cant hear it.

It cleans up the dribble you often get in the middle
you do get a a manual override too though ? so you can repeatedly attack an errant birds present

Intermittent wipe that cannot adjust to conditions or, wash wipe that does not know when bottle is empty - that's a killer

I think your getting mixed up, were talking about auto wash/wipe as in when you squirt water the wipers work automatically. You can use it for as long as you want.
Intermittent wipe is a totally different feature.

When I'm driving down the road and the car in front if me decides to stop to let someone pull out of a junction despite there being no cars behind me or if there's one car behind me.

So, in doing a good deed to let 1 car pull out, they wear their brakes my brakes and the car behinds brakes and reduce our fuel efficiency (slow down and then speed up) to let 1 car pull out when simply continuing at normal pace would have meant he could have pulled out 15 seconds later with no detriment to anyone.

Thanks

Yeah, I've seen this countless times, again more proof that drivers have zero idea what's going on around them. A quick check of their mirror would tell them there's zero point in them stopping.

In the same vein, cars which let other cars out of junctions when they're crossing the road yet there's zero gap on the other side. OK, I get that you're letting me out, but where the **** am I supposed to go???!! The car who is letting the other car pull out is (AFAIK) partially responsible for making sure it's safe, i.e. there's no biker filtering past, a lot of the time the car pulling out is completely unsighted so they're relying on the other car saying it's safe...

This roundabout

Both left and right lane used at the roundabout for northbound on A1 (right-lane on 1st exit). It can be a bit of a free-for-all.

And This Roundabout

Classic busy 2 lane onto 3 lane roundabout where the middle lane is the free-for-all. Frequent accidents here.

Err, no.....

You NEVER let another driver assume responsibility for YOUR safe handling of your vehicle, nor assume they have even the slightest clue about the safety of anything other than their own vehicle.
This assumption is where flashing people out and then flash for cash originated.

Agree. I ignore 99.9% of people flashing. I don't know where it comes from. Ive recently had a truck blast the horn at me for i presume not flashing, they were in lane 1 as i was approaching in lane 2, they started indicating so i let off the accelerator and left plenty of room. They just sat there for what seemed like miles. When they eventually moved over they did so with a long blast of the horn. Presume he would have liked me to flash, but as far is im concerned its there problem pulling out.

Really?
*checks mirrors*
Well, as usual, all I can see is an SUV Crossover thing up my arse, blocking everything and blinding me with high beam lights on... Lucky they have those, as I'm sure they'd otherwise be utterly invisible in broad daylight.
Can't see anything else and I'm not in a desperate rush that would be seriously impacted by adding 12 seconds to my journey, so I'll happily let Granny out...

But why would you inconvenience yourself AND the person behind you to help 1 person out ?

Also using my rear view mirror I can clearly see the car behind me and through theirwiindsvreen and rear window very easily on 99% of cases.

Don't get me wrong a large portion of truck drivers i love driving behind, nice steady speed don't take part in this stop start driving instead stick at a nice 10 mph or so. But some, I'm guessing "not from here" let the side down.

I know what light flashes are for, but when did the meaning to most mean, all clear go for it.

Another that i spotted this morning.
Why are some people fitting headlight bulbs in place of license plate bulbs, cant even see the license plate they are that bright.

it was a rhetorical question - to ask, if, as well as auto wash/wipe (with final wipe), you still have a manual wash/wipe w/o final wipe.

Intermittent wipe that cannot adjust to conditions or, wash wipe that does not know when bottle is empty - that's a killer
Wipers that auto wipe at the wrong frequency, or will try to wash/wipe when no fluid, useless too.

Totally with you on this one. If traffic is queing then sure stop and let people out. I agree those that seem to do it seem to have very little visual observation going on around them.
I see it weekly on the way to work, a long hill down into the town and a couple of side roads that cross slightly offset (one each side) onto the main road.
The number of times someone will stop (including a few cars behind) to let someone out of the left. Who then drives a few feet and then indicates right, stopping all the traffic now waiting for a gap on the other side of the road so they can turn right.

Grrrrr
