So then,

what wheels do everyone use (if you use one at all)? Im thinking of getting one myself but im not sure if to go with the Thrustmaster 458 or not. I did look at spending a little more and getting a Logitech G27 but with me using an xbox its £70 extra for the adaptor.

Im aware the new console is out soon but I won't be getting that anytime soon (Xbox One).

I use a Logitech G25 that I got for £100 when they discontinued them, it's a decent wheel and works very well on GT5. I was thinking of upgrading to a Fanatec wheel at some point as they work on Xbox, PS3 & PC but I may just stick with the G25 until a Gran Turismo is released on the PS4 so that will be a while then lol.

I will say once you have played with a decent wheel especially one with a clutch pedal you just can't go back to using a pad which is why I don't play Forza on the 360.

What pedals?

Also what will you be clamping/mounting the wheel too?

Desk is a mexican oak desk which ile be clamping the wheel too.

great wheel that, but the standard clamp is not fit for purpose really, maybe you'll have better luck with it. so much better bolted to the desk now :)

So you fitted it permanently to the desk? Thats a nono for me because its my PC desk :/

Might just get the official microsoft wheel as it will be used for f1 so I won't use the clutch or the H shifter or the 900 degrees that you get with more expensive wheel (it would be nice for drifting though).

I will be buying second hand so if I do chose to get a better wheel in the future im not losing as much money.

If you're happy paying £200 you can't go wrong with that wheel. I've got my gt2 bolted down so I can't speak for the clamp.

Just lost out on a Ferrari 458 italia wheel. Went for £10 and then £10 for the courier. It didn't have force feedback anyway so I think ile go with the Microsoft wheel.

Can you buy better pedals and link them to the microsoft wheel or not?

I've got the official Microsoft Wheel with all boxing and packaging + Wheel stand Pro.

To be honest It works very well but I barely get time to play games any more so I will probably flogg it on.
