Driving with no shoes on

my car is so dirty inside i have to put the seat cover on when i drive it in my goin out clothes on. but evan if it was clean it dosent feel right without shoes..

imo you have worse control. the foot doesn't have a flat surface, and a smaller surface area, so it really doesn't make any sense

Racing drivers wear shoes without a proper 'sole', so no flat surface there either. I have some Sparco boots here and you can't really walk around in them that comfortably, it's almost like walking with bare feet. :)
 
The only defence in not driving shoeless is if some grit or glass or something sharp is present in the footwell which then causes you to either lose control of the car or unable to operate the controls of the car correctly. In Cyprus I'm almost exclusively shoeless. In the UK I seldom do it just because it's not warm enough :p Though I do prefer and try to wear thin soled shoes.
 
i remember lewis posting a video of him driving barefoot on youtube and getting a load of pervs emailing him for more :p
 
Moved my car in and out of the driveway in socks before now. It's not comfortable and I personally felt like I had less control over the car, not more.
 
I made the mistake of trying to drive with flip-flops on once and would never do it again. I ended up driving barefoot for the rest of the journey, which wasn't very comfortable. I wouldn't do that again either.

I hate shoes, always walk around bare footed in the house and even in the garden (pavement), and where appropriate, anywhere inside except public places.

Will prolly take off my shoes often when driving in the future, so much more comfortable and not sweaty that way either.

Doubt it's illegal.
 
if i am wearing shoes or big trainers (3120, d&g etc) then i take them off as they are too large to drive in.

i find converses best to drive in and i can vouch that driving in flip flops is bad as they get stuck.
 
My feet are size 14 & a half, In some cars if i don't take my shoe off i would be Dangerous, namely Pug 106's for starters. I use my big toe for the accelerator :p The pedal is just to close to the inner arch & brake pedal.
 
Its not illegal in Scotland, although if you sit your test with no shoes you have to have a medical note on your licence saying you did. My instructor used to let me do it when he picked me up for lessons and i had unsuitable shoes on. I still often drive with no shoes on because i like to be able to feel where my feet are. I was considering buying some Puma Speedcats to drive in.
