Driving

Public transport is not as cheap as it once was and it has never been comfortable or convenient especially as a means of daily commute.

Random trips to here or there yeah fine or the random long trip but as a daily mode of transport? no wonder most of the working population who use them walk around glum faced in inner cities.

Plus public transport has faeces evidence on door handles and stuff.

I used to love it but got done for speeding and its completely ruined it for me now. I'm just going to sell my car and buy a diesel automatic mondeo with tape on the bumper. I live in the city centre anyway so hardly use it!

Why did it ruin it for you? did the coppers make you stand in front of a class of kids to explain your shenanigans?

Everytime I'm driving a long all I think is 'what if...?', constantly checking my speed etc. I dont fancy standing infront of some condescending magistrates again etc.

I find driving one of the most tedious things I have to do.
I used to enjoy it, before I ended up doing it for a living, now I have a job where I dont have to drive, I still find it very, very..............dull.
My opinion also. It's just a way of getting to somewhere, from somewhere else. Hardly enjoyable when half of the other road users are complete idiots while they think they are expert drivers.

I've got to the point where I can put off learning to drive no longer and so have been learning for the last few weeks. However it's so boring and I really have to force myself to do it. I came up with "It's like learning to spell, you don't want to but you have too"...

For me part of the reason is unlike other forms of motorised transport you can't have fun as it's almost entirely on roads, where anything fun is illegal. That means the only point of it for me is for work and to get to places.

Anyone else dislike driving? It seems everywhere you go people seem to like driving.

(I didn't put this in motors as it's full of petrol heads, who will obviously like driving:p)

When you pass, please do not become one of the middle lane idiots I hate so much. Lane discipline in this country is non-existant. I wish the Police would pull over and fine people for driving in Lanes 2 & 3 when they could be in Lane 1

I loathed driving lessons with a passion, would find any excuse under the sun to not do them.
Pretty much the same experience I had although I had a 2 week intensive course and didn't miss any lessons :p I literally hated getting up in the morning to go do the driving but I've been driving for a year and a half now and I don't regret it for a second. Driving under instruction may seem awful but once you have the freedom to drive by yourself it's a totally different thing. I find it really relaxing and I regularly have audio books in my car to keep my brain occupied while my eyes focus on the road.

learning was a bit rubbish, i just wasn't interested, failed a couple of tests, it dragged on for ages. things change when you have passed, great freedom etc :)

now driving is part of my job and do up to 1,000 miles a week. no probs driving long distances now which is good :)
